Ah, tits. That's horrible news. Have you assessed the damage yet? Will you be going back to chain?

thats bad news. I must admit, thats one reason I prefer a rattling chain...lets me know (usually) when its shagged.

Bad luck.

Did you get the sound of metal eating metal as it happened? Hopefully you have got lucky and damage will be minimul.

there was a munching sound,

it didn't really sound like valves, I thought it was just eating the crank sensor or something.

Hopefully the bottom end survives and the valves took the brunt of it. One piston survived a previous encounter with valves so I hope that counts for something

I had a horrible thought last night,

the cranks probably twatted the shit out of the cam...

I think my best option is to get welding on the rust pile thats occupying the garrage, get that on the road and then i can pull the lump at my leisure.

Cheers Garry,

If i need to store anything it'll be the red one,

Project " Ger Garage hogging rustbucket usable" is already underway,

R/H inner wing has just been removed and the new one is ready to go in after dinner followed by the A pannel...

tomorow the R/H door step panel get chomped out and replaced and the door goes back on...

sunday L/H innerwing comes out, doubet i'll get it welded in though as I've got to go to the pub for lunch.

Oh and some little scrote has nicked my bootlid badges :#

Let me know if you need a hand Joe. Got space if you need to lose a mini for a while too. Going to try and get van operational this weekend.

Have you got an engine to put in temporarily? Want me to throw together a 998 lump?

I've got enough bits to to put one together minus the dizzy.

Paul if offering the loan of his running 1100. He's also got a 1275 bottom end you can use.

I have,

but pulling the lump is such a pain I only want to do it once really,

I reckon on 3-4 weeks to get the stealth bomber back on the road,
