I am thinking about it. If I do then I would definintely leave the mainshaft bearing housings in situ, as they are a good datum point.

id just lay the two shafts out parallel, then move them apart until the gears have a tiny amount of play then measure them .

You'll never cut a 25mm aluminium plate with a frickin lazer, might be able to water jet it. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

there is a bloke who has made 2 in australia, he runs a 16v head turbo doing like 200+ atw's through this box and had no problems, but we only have the picture of the box on the back of his ute in the original thread i posted.

Yeah cheers Nick. I spoke to David from ausmini (who was doing the conversion) and by the sound of things its no where near completion, so im not going to have any luck with finding out info of what to do. Am I right in thinking that no one has ran one of these boxes before, that we know of? Edited by NickG on 4th Oct, 2011. |

6082 T6 would be my normal choice, I'd not heard ot 6082 T651 before but a quick Google just says it's a stress relieved version of 6082 T6, so should be even better (but if you're welding it in you'll put all the stresses back in anyway :) ). Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
