Hey buddy, sorry didn't see this message until just now...

A bit of a set back actually with the mini, the paint on the side panels is cracking where the fibreglass meets the steel. Quite bad all round actually and the only bit of road the car has been on is on the back of a car transporter! Imagine what state they'll be in once she's started and on the road under her own 'hundreds' of horses lol...

So my options are...

1. Rub it down and paint again (and hope it'll be alright from then on (which we all know it won't be)!)
2. I've just discovered that minispares are now selling the steel panels for the van conversion (I'm pretty sure they were not before as I would have bought them then!) so I bite the bullet and get them...

Not cheap at £250 a panel though.. plus labour as I won't be doing it as I don't have the time (plus I'm a bit pee'd off at all the work and money I put into it up to now!)

So thats where I'm at... annoyed! *angry*

Fitting arches to a painted shell must be a nightmare?! Ive just fitted some arches to one of mine.. done one side then done it a better way on the other side so redone the first side!!? Would be crying if it was painted!

Ya well the panels are getting replaced on both sides, the fibreglass panels are out... Being replaced with steel.. So it's pretty much getting resprayed all over...

Bit of a nightmare but had to be done... *oh well*

So had a bit more work done... as previously mentioned, both rear panels have since been replaced with steel.. should have done this day one but hey ho... made up some brace bars for the subframe, mounted to the top of the shock struts..

Had to be pretty much resprayed after replacing the rear panels... the paint shop guys are sticking on the arches for me this week. He reckons the areas will be masked up before they stick them on so thats why they've painted the car first.. so back in the booth after a rub down...

And the latest addition... A nice shiny black roof! Looks rather dapper I must say...

I toyed with the idea of black arches to match the roof... in the end I decided they will be the same colour as the body... I'm going to change the wing mirrors to black and the grill will be the same so that should make it rather subtle..

Should get it back next week, hopefully then I can look at getting the blooming thing started finally!!

Looks good! How come the front was black again?

And also.... your intercooler looks like one ive been looking at.. upgraded ford rs one from ebay? Do you reckon it would fit straight on from the front? It was the angle of the ends that was stopping me from hitting the buy i now?

Yeah cheers.. It was black because thats a primer, the bonnet never was fantastic from day one (after it was painted last), was pitted in many places so just completely had to be re done..

Yes thats an RS intercooler... eBay yes... I reckon it might but I couldn't find the correct combination of bends/pipework without the bends collapsing so thats why mine is the way it is..

You may not like it.... Brace yourself.... Miglias. Purely as the fronts stick out a mile and I wasn't too keen on the shapes/return of most others. Got a set of proper miglias from David Kimberly over at tdk racing..

Oh yes lads of course.. In fact, I've asked him to cut them back so the rim of the wheel protrudes ever so slightly further than the arch itself..

Only trouble I found with cutting them back is it gives you less radius and makes mounting interesting.

Right... I have her all back to myself, no more trips away. I subbed out the last of the hard work so its time for me to get my hands dirty.. all the bits I wanted done are now finished so very soon (famous last words) I'll have her up and running..

So the arches are on.. quite wide and will need spacers on the back, the front wheels could maybe come out half an inch too.. what d'ya reckon...?

So not too bad on the front but the back wheels certainly need to come out a fair bit, looks like 1.5" but really need to delve further and see what spacers are available.. whats the implications of spacers regarding handling?

Some of the pictures make the arches look huge, especially the front ones.. It's the angle I've taken the pictures from, yes.. they are quite wide but I was surprisingly happy when it arrived this morning.. I was dreading it somewhat incase it looked gash.
I know it won't be everyones taste but it sure does look mean... could do with being lowered an inch or so too...

I really wouldnt fit spacers!! Especially to a turbo, i thought the arches were being trimmed to the wheels? It looks great but sadly id give it back and get the arches trimmed back... doh! Seams a shame but seams the only way.. especially as that was the idea of him doing it right?
