Sure was, I nearly decided to keep it and scrap the micra idea. When I had it all in front of me, I'd forgot everything I put into it.

Up and on though. I want to get the subframe and engine mocked up this week. March is all about building the lightweight projects engine and loom. I've decided I can't build 2 at the same time. So I'm going to alternate every month.

Might do that on the actual engine, this is just a 998 for mockup purposes.

I'm doing it on the Vauxhall lump. If mr PC Plod pops the lid I can say "look it says Austin"

Good fit, doesn't look squeezed in. Plenty of room for that turbo you're not having... yet.

Can't believe how well that fits in!

Do people put these in round noses aswell?

Looks good!
Seems to sit quite low in there, being lighter and lower will give better handling.

How much there is space in between the bonnet and valve cover?
Estimation on round nose?

75' Mini special deluxe.
1275 A+ engine with turbo on the way...

Few on the other forum.

A guy I know is fitting one in his round nose so im sure they fit as above.
Is there many performance parts easily available for these engines?

They're a bit heavier than that rob.

Matts got the weight of one in this thread a few pages back.

Just thought I'd list the engine & box weight before I forget.

Engine, complete with head, no clutch 52kg
Gearbox 37kg

Ok i was 9kg out minus a clutch i do read this forum mostly after a drink and my maths isnt my strongest other posts suggest 150kg for an a series ??????

Still a great weight saving coupled with a good power figure. My b16a1 vtec i was never bothered with weight its only since i frequented here ive considered it .

But i am yet to start the next big build

Cheeky picture of the 4-1 branch stainless manifold curtosy of Matt at Fusion Fabrication. Note the tight bend of cylinder number 4 for alternator clearence. Its still in design stage at the minute. It's been developed to use a shallower collector for improve flow. The primeries will attach to the collector with tabs. Then after the collector there will be a flexi and slip joint to the 2" system.
