Swansea boyo!

I haven't logged in here for a while but it's always nice to see another little 998 surprising everyone! How did you find L2B? We did it two years ago and almost cooked the engine the traffic and heat in Brighton was awful! What boost are you running atm?

They don't die, they just get faster!

Hey Shauna,

The mini ran really well. it did get hot stuck in traffic, so had to have the heater on full blast and the electric fan on, but had no issues. it pulls so nicely, needs a good setup on the rollers.

I did see this at L2B, has a great look. You've got a similar spec to mine so it's nice to know it'll be good fun when it's done!
So what's next for this then? (Because we all know you're not actually going to listen the the Mrs and not touch it *wink* )

Morning all,

Just a little update, been trying to enjoy the mini as much a possible. had a great blast over to Santa pod for the retro show. however my dump valve kept jamming open, i was using the piston type and wasn't aware of the O-ring swelling issue, but that was an easy fix. Got the new seat and harness fitted, thanks to Matty for welding up the frame.

Then took it for a spin to get a feel for the seat and my heater valve decided to let go and dump coolant. that'll teach me to buy shit cheap parts. ill resort back to the original valve 45 years old and still fine.

Morning all,

So what a great summer ive had in the mini. Ive tried to get in out as much as possible and made it to few event. Had a few minor hiccups along the way, Chinese crap heater valve falling apart and piston type dump valve jamming open.
As the winter approaches its time to iron out a few of the kinks and update a few things.

- Rebuild rear subframe/brakes etc got neglected when the car was built last year.
- Rewire the engine bay/gauges/megajolt. it was all done in a rush last year and my OCD is going mental.
- Intercooler time !!!! ive been playing about with whats going to fit. First one is a Mitsubishi Pajero/L200 intercooler. gives good coverage, but is only 2" thick.

The second one is an Audi TT intercooler. its got a thicker core, but coverage is a lot less.

The pajero one may not be as efficient but it fits. with a few notches taken out of the front panel.

The one with the larger surface area, rather than thicker core, should be more effective all things being equal.

Had a great time at Bingley Hall, even treaded the old girl to some new wheels. The 1100 specials were poking too far out of the arches.

Pity about the Specials. Was this a visual thing or did the MOT man/Plod object?

Were the 1100 special models the first to use the plastic arch extensions? I suppose it explains why the offset means the wheels stick out when no arches are fitted.

Looks very much the case. Mine have a 0.61" inset.
