To all who have hijacked my thread!

Rob S ect
You are welcome!!!!
We are all here for the same reason to share ideas and information. I will start a new thread once I get the block on the engine stand.
Taking it out of the Morris Traveller that it has found itself in at the moment.
Stripping it down and going to put on a stand.
Lets continue using this thread for whateevr and for discussing my engine build and then I will create a new read only? or something

Start a new thread in the 'Show Us Yours' section. You already have one running turbo engine (that's one more than me) - Lets see this next engine documented.

I expect you'll make light work of it; lets see what you can do ...and then put it back in the Traveller hehe

I'll do a show us yours tomorrow if I have time for the Marina as it is at the moment, anyway quick question, just been over to med http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalogue...s-special-short
and wondering, I know my engine is a 1293cc, what pistons do I need? I can provide bore size ect but wondering if someone can verify the info I have just on the fact it is a 1293cc (obviously need dished as turbo) but is there a 'standard' dish? or just and 'average' for the fairly average engine I am building?

Thanks in advance, also please some pointers as to what rod bolts I should buy.

My block has 12V E H472262 stamped on it. A bit strange but any reason why this possibly non plus version A series won't be good for me? Should I locate an A+ crank? Are A+ Rods different to mine?

Thanks

Is this the engine that was recently rebuilt to 1293? Take the head off and see what's in there now.

Measure the piston to deck height. Measure the head cc. Look up the current piston dish volume.

Decide what compression ratio you want then do the maths to work out what dish (or change in head cc) you need.

There may be two alternatives to spending hundreds on new pistons:
1)get someone to open up the head chambers
2) get someone to dish the current pistons

One more note. The company that rebored my block where insistant that they had 1 piston to hand when they did the rebore. I thought that +20thou is +20thou right? When I went minispares they guy brought out 2 hepolite pistons (P21251 and P21253) and they had different measurements on the box. If you do end up buying +20 pistons, measure the clearance - don't assume it'll be within spec

Oh!

Just took head off and found this:

MOWOG AEG163

So I guess I have a Cooper S head?

Do all S heads have de shrouded valves?
Valves look large too.

I'd guess they have a reputation for cracking because the valves are so big. Clean it up and sell it (unless you're going to pull a Cooper S out of you're garage too!)

yeah, theres not much between the valves ( 31ish mm exhausts)

the S chambers were a little more deshrouded, but this could be a worked head. even more reason to sell it.

Found a piece of paper that says:

Big end journals 1.7497 - 1.7504
1) 1.751 x 1.751
2) 1.751 x 1.751
3) 1.751 x 1.751
4) 1.751 x 1.750

Main Journals 2.0012 - 2.0017
1) 2.0015 x 2.0010 (1/2 thou)
2) 2.0015 x 2.0010 (1/2 thou)
3) 2.0015 x 2.0010 (1/2 thou)

Deck clearance = 0.04" (40 thou)
comp volume = 12ml }
} 33ml
head comp volume = 21ml }

2.780" + 020" bore = 1293cc / 4 = 323.25 / 33 = 9.795 = 1

Pistons are AE21250.020
2.7805" (70.625mm)

10 thou

Marina FRAM PH2869

It has a minispares part no C-AEG411 Spider drive sureflow pump (is this the oil pump?)

New valves (v9037u)??? and guides and seats

and from minispares part no AEB91306-00 Big ends 1300STD Size except Cooper S and part no AEM91120-00 Mains set standard 1275 pre A plus part no C-AEG579 Cam follower lightened set and Duplex gear set venier adjustable

So a few goodies.

So, based on this info, does all the above still stand in terms of

Standard crank with rolled fillet radius bearing journals
Standard a+ rods with ARP rod bolts
MG Metro/KC 500 Cam
Omega 10cc cast pistons
Intercooler
Megajolt
GT1752 Turbo

Many thanks

Sounds like you're off to a good start... But start a new thread in 'Show Us Yours' - This one has already lost it's way.

CR calculation is wrong though. In you're thread, show what was written down, and what you've measured / calculated.

I did not calculate anything! I have just written everything down just in case someone pointed out that there was an error etc!!

You say start a new thread in the show us yours but I don't have this to show yet! Although I was going to do a show us yours for the current setup I have (which runs and does the job!)

You've got plenty to start a new thread. My show-us-your starts with a broken engine in pieces (and it's still not complete yet)

OK, please follow me over there though, where is the CR calculation wrong?

Its an A+ engine with a fast road cam!

I am almost convinced that the Cooper head is not suitable for my application in terms of likelyhood to crack!
