It's "just" a matter of puting it all back together now. Still loads of fabrication involved:
-sorting out the exhaust manifold
-fuel system layout
-electrics
-intercooler plumbing
-maybe electric only cooling fan
- and of course puting all of the usual Mini bits in.

I really can't wait to get it on the road but in the end it's not mine. Not to worry thou. I have a Metro Turbo engine in stock unmolested condition waiting to go in to my saloon once I have the body properly sorted. So that's definetly not my last turbo build *smiley*

Time for an update. Progress is slower than expected. I new it's gonna take time but damn there are all those smal things to consider...

Anyway
Engine in and sorting out the amount of space to fit the turbo was the first job.

Then I sorted out the manifold and send it to be ceramic coated.

While waiting for it to get back there was some time to deal with other things like fitting trigger wheel and finishing of the carb.

And then there is the never ending story of trial fitting everything and sorting out space for each required component. Modifying some bits in order to fit and so on. I still have to sort out a place for OCT, FPR and other bits. I did however managed to fit wiper motor on left hand side of the car and get it working for the LHD car.

Finally I got round to work on the exhaust as well. Downpipe not 100% done yet but I'm getting there.

Time for another update.

I've been working on the exhaust, downpipe is almost finished now. Theis pic was taken at the beginning. Ended up doing a 2-piece one. Single piece would not go in with pot joints in place. I'm running 2 inch pipe so far but I'd like to fit simple RC40 back box with 1 3/4 inlet pipe and even smaller outlet. Won't it be to restrictive?

Wiring almost ready as well but I'm not wraping it until I have it checked and working as it should.

Fitting everything under the bonnet is a nightmare to be honest. Still struggling to find a place for the FPR and OCT. I did manage to put some shiney bits thou

Coil and HT leads sorted.

Working on the intercooler setup now.

Beign so close I set up a goal to get it started this week. And... Success! Although turbocharger not plumbed in now. I got it running for 10min to break in the cam. Will have to give another go as I run into some problems.

No 1.
Engine was turning over prior to startup. But once it got going there was this mettalic knocking sound. This is what I found inside flywheel housing:

Bolt was scratched as well, it wasn't sticking out thou. Marks on the diaphram were only visible in 2 spots. No idea what was wrong. Diaphram sticking out a bit to much? Anyway, nothing a grinder wouldn't fix. And of course I did that straight away not after 10min of running :)

No. 2
I blanked off all of the carb float vent/overflow. It would only run for few sec. Had to unplug one for now, but for the future I'll have to sort something out. Should I remove the brass plug from the plenum/airfilter end or t-piece overflow with FPR boost pipe?

No. 3
Float valve got stuck and fuel went thru overflow pipe so that's what stop me for now.

No. 4
Damn it's getting hot there! Defo need to sort some better heat shiled for the carb. What material to use for best results?

No. 5
Connected with the above. Heat shrinking caused the bimetalic piece to mess with AFR on idle and while starting. I looked for a different jet adjuster but couldn't find any. Not in the usual places at least. Any advice will be appreciated. This Isn't the first car with HIF that's definetly suffering from the lean out when it's left hot for a few minutes. It's getting really annoying.
