Got the tiniest weep coming down my brake pedal... so probably best to get a new brake reservoir at i.m.m u can just see the type i have in one of my pics... its the tall metal one with a plastic bit at the top, no servo, is that the best type for my system or whilst im replacing is there a better one to get a better pedal without putting a servo in? Cheers

few pics from rwyb Saturday

and sunday morning of m.i.t.p *frown*

on the way home.. in the sun *oh well* the dirtiest its ever been thanks to the mote u had to go through at the gate at pod lol

ran a 15.3 continuously on Saturday which weren't too bad I thought, but then on matts scales I was disgusted with my minis weight of 692kg *surprised* so Monday as soon as I got home I got rid of the stuff in the car that I didn't want anyway!

a rough list:

seat base foam 2.2kg
seat back foam 2.7kg
sub/amp thing 3.8kg
boot board 2.0kg
rear speakers 2.3kg
rearseat cradle 2.6kg
= 15.6kg

parcel shelf
rear 1/4 trim
dynamat
rear belts
mats
centre console
underlay
water from washer bottle!
combined = 9.9kg

TOTAL LOSS = 25.5KG

*tongue* plenty still to come and a good few ideas to do over winter so I can compare to next years runs

*Clapping*

Well as much as poss to a certain point, i have a pair of fibreglass doors, gotta get the front windows with slideys, i have your boot, would like one of them tiny batterys, i have a new fuel cell in garage loft, different dash, wheels, seats. Gonna trim back and remove some bracketry...hopefully eventually into the 500's even if it is 599kg *happy*

so I brought these off of here for my fibreglass doors that I shall try out and put on next year..

but for now ive got these polycarb 'wind up' windows to put into my steel doors (excuse the rabbit)

so I stripped out my door to fit and removed roughly a kg of sound deadening, the glass weighs 3.9kg and the polycarb weighs 1.6kg so in total that's a saving of 3.3kg per door!

had a bit of a tidy up with the wiring that's been removed for the stereo system

hand brake cable needed adjusting so whilst I was there I removed a few 100g's from the lever

and a friend that frequently takes the piss out of my minis holes made me these stickers lol

oh I know *happy* when I was weighed at pod I was 692 and my friends was 687 (he gloated all weekend) ive removed roughly 33kg's since then... BUT my friend has removed his sound deadening from his floor at a weight of 18kg and just ordered a set of polycarb windows that should roughly save him 15kg so he also would have lost 33kg's since pod.. its turning into a challenge

I lost my original spreadsheet, with all the before and after weights when I got it down to 559 NA & 577kg with the turbo. I listed everything I could think of, then worked out cost per Kg. my limit was £100.

Best saving were glass, door mechs, sound deadening, flip front, alloy calipers, alloy fins, 1 seat, X lite flywheel, subframes, heater, rear bins and back seat

I think Force wheels saved about 6kg in total.

Is annoying, when you then put 30kg back in with a Rollcage. I'm currently considering dropping my roll cage and just building a drag car.

That was another thing i was gonna ask people about was heaters! I know people say if u remove the heater theres the whole circulation of water thing making it run hotter? But is this cancelled out if i have closed deck? Circulating that end? I would love to chuck the heater if people said theyve succesfully done so without heating problems, the only downside i can see is demisting the front screen?

I've got a heatered front screen, you just need add extra weight with a relay and wiring.

I've never had any overheating problems with the dry deck, however I was running a extra wide Radtec alloy rad.

I have never ran a heater and only got a bit hot since I had my turbo engine fitted last year and even then never on the road only when I was at the Nurburgring.
I have since fitted an electric fan to counter this - yet to see the results though.

It's one of them things Dave,

Where do you want it to end?? As striped out cars are just that! Striped out?..

So if you want free weight lose get shot of-
.Both dash covers
.heater
.that dash
.all that wire
.trim the doors out
.Lose the door cards
.them alloy handles

These are just things that I can see from your pics you have posted, if you strip the car right down, then look at every thing that's in there, and say could that be lighter? Do I need it? Could it be made out of something else?

I think the best looking light cars are the ones you can not work out how they are so light, for instance when me and Chirs D was at the RWYB we had some bloke come over and started to tell us how our cars was fat and where we could make them lighter! So we sort of said pick a part and I we will point out how it's been made lighter!

Plus you sort of need a plan and stick to it, like me for instant is that I don't want to put C/F or F/G on the mk1.

I found some of my best weight lose was buy swapping 99 % of my bolts to Ti where I could.

I hope some of this, is of help to you I am by far not a expert but it's just what I have learnt along the way!

Simon.

I may remove the heater then, nothing opening a window and having a demister pad wont wipe away haha, doors i got years ago i think they are tdk ones, they fit with normal hinges n locks, i offered them upto a shell when i got them and they were quite a good fit
