I got it from a guy on TMF called wilson1330 he sells MJ kits cheaper than triggerwheels.com

Also makes a loom for people like me that can't be arsed to fuck about with wiring.

Well some good progress today, fitted the crank and pistons.

I also found out another reason the engine locked up. Kappa had mixed all the conrod caps up

Cap 1 with piston 4
cap 2 with piston 3
cap 3 with piston 2
cap 4 with piston 1

Nice one! *Clapping*

I ended up having 3thou end float is this ok?

3 thou is fine.

Have you figured out what that cam is yet?

Unfortunately not as it has no markings on it which would make it a standard 1275 cam?

Standard 1275, Standard 998 who knows!

Doesn't look like an MG Cam.

Looks like it could be worth me picking a MG cam up to be on the safe side

I'm pretty sure there's a guide on here on how to measure a cam up, and there is lots of info on the profiles for most cams , so if you have access to a DTI it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what profile it is.

I think i made a little mistake when fitting the pistons the other night.
I am sure i fitted piston 2 and 3 in the wrong cylinders :( will check for sure tonight.

If i have can i leave it or is it best to swap them over? also will the conrod bolts be ok?

If you are using the old rings, and the engine has been run for a period of time then they need to go back in the same holes.

If the bores have been honed and the rings are new then it shouldn't matter.

from personal experience i would get it honed and new rings
i did what you did on a perfect running engine and smoked like a bastard after :(
once i did the above it was fine
