Interested to see your progress Wil, it must be really hard with so many variables to dial it in so it works for your driving style.

My driving style has always been brake late and chuck it in. Which works well with the monoshock at the front.

The difficult thing is realising how fast the thing can corner. Lots of variables yes, but like the mini you just take your time and make lots of notes.

I stripped a cheap ebay gt17 core down t'other day and it had a 180 degree thrust bearing!!!! in it. I know some cheapy stuff is fine and some junk just letting you know to keep an eye on it. the core it was replacing had foreign object damage on the compressor, so I reused the old thrust and journal bearings and the cars been fine. I didnt want to risk it with the shitty thrust bearing.

Finally getting somewhere with the OMS. It's now lighter, has new less draggy wings and a nice power graph.

This was running at 10psi according to the RR MAP sensor which we callibrated after as I thought it was wrong. Unfortunately, just as we were about to strat mapping the boost the turbo-return scavange pump shat the bed. The magic 200 bananas seems easily achievable with a couple more psi.

Next thing is a test day, if the terminal speeds are where I wnat them the boost will stay as it ism if not it'll get a tweak:)

It's a Ricoh Theta S. Easy to use but a bugger to edit and process to make it work.

Honestly will, I can see why you're struggling with the car, looking at that vid the rear wheel have far to much neg camber and are toeing out a fuck load,

also there appears to be two people driving which won't help.

A small update just for fun.

I got the car back on the RR last week. The idea was to finish the mapping we started and then play with the boost.

With the boost now increased to 1.25bar it's making over 200 bananas ATW. The RR I use is frequented by lots of my competitors, so it's a comparable figure to the 1100cc bike engines making 190.

It also has over 110 toques, again comparable to the 85 the 1100s make.

Unfortunately, an accidental overboost bust the ringlands on No4. No other damage. Worth noting that the power run was taken with the bust ringlands and only to 10,000 rpm, 1000 below max rpm.

Her's some 360 videos from Doune - A fantastic hill.

Work progresses on the OMS. Over the winter we have made it lighter, reduced the drag, lowered the engine 32mm and put a new manifold on; plus lots of other minor changes.

Hopefully this will all translate to better times, we were really making progress last year.

Now looks like this, just needs some decals adding.

The problem we have is the power. We changed from a really bodged up 'log' type manifold to a nice equal length jobbie. Like below

and the power changed like this - Black is with the new manifold, Red with the old (note this is transposed from a print-out, so not no comments on some odd bits)

What I'm after is thoughts on why the power seems to suddenly drop off at 9500 rpm. It's clearly spooling the turbo up earlier and making more low down torque, but not sure why it suddenly falls away. Thinking about manifold header lengths having a similar effect to a cam change????

For information, following this session at a test day the engine lunched itsself. The failure was cased by a sticking exhaust valve. Could a sticky/leaky exhaust valve cause such a drop?

Feel free to think out loud........

Looking good Wil! Was just thinking about this other day as was talking about the TT3! Do you still compete in that too?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
