It smokes a lot! it's like a steam train. I nearly filled my village returning from my test run.

I know it was running really rich when it got warm up to about 10:1 and I definitely over filled the dash pot with oil but the amount of smoke coming out the back was insane.

Can anyone put my mind at ease and tell me it isn't the turbo oil seals?

Thanks

It's isnt the turbo oil seals! It's the piston rings *wink*

Of course I have no idea why your cars smoking I hope you sort it soon!

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

Well I swapped the turbo and all good now! Had to amend the oil drain on the back of the block and turbo. Now looks like this.

Got it back together and had a big leak from turbo oil feed which went away after a big tighten up on the banjo bolt. Seem to have another oil leak from tee on the block so ill look into that.

Any way it all seems to be going well. Only running 4psi at the mo as RR setup is next Saturday so only running in and it feels very quick even though its permanently running rich.

Took it to John sleaths today. Had a slight nightmare.

Started off by forgetting my megajolt lead. Fortunately my mate was on his way up and managed to turn back and go look for it. I decided to go buy the bits to make one anyway from Maplins so now John has got a megajolt lead for the small rj11 megajolts.

Then the car seemed to be running through edis only as the timing was stuck at 12 degrees. A second before I pulled it off the rollers I wiggled the pip connection into the megajolt and it was loose and came out in my hand. Managed to get it back in securely and working!

Ran the car up and it made 120hp at 7psi. Unfortunately the actuator wouldn't boost anymore than that. I have been told the gt17's have two types one shite one (that I must have) and a good one that allows the boost to be upped. Must try and find one of these now.

Overall I'm very happy as a week ago I didn't have a turbo on the car.

Well ivejust got back from my trip to the ring. Made it all the way there and back (on the back of a trailer) only loosing part of the black on the pressed plates.

Pretty much a fault free week. I did 8 laps bringing my total in this car up to 30.
Worst part was the brakes felt crap. I really wanted to get some new pads while I was there as the green stuffs I didn't have time to change before we went were completely faded by half way round. A little bit scary with your foot flat to the floor not slowing down.

I had one other problem where I lost all gears as the support bolt from the clutch slave cylinder bracket had vibrated out of the clutch cover so had to fetch the trailer to get the car back to the campsite to re fit.

Having only done 20 miles on the engine after the rolling road I am really happy with how the car was running. Just wish I had managed to do my actuator to get full power.

I had a little race with an integra type r and kept him behind up to 120mph where I ran out of go.

Leaves me a couple of bits to do this winter. Need a new sill on both sides and brakes as a definite then I'll swap the actuator.
