Not much progress lately as I've been trying to get the motivation back.

Managed to get the long awaited limit switches fitted so that Sturgeo can finish the wiring.

Z:

I used the machine in CNC mode to drill and slot the brackets without too much hassle :)

Apparently we only need a single limit switch on each axis. The software is programmed to limit the total travel :?

Our first piece cut from a series of G-Code programs generated by the Mach 3 wizards:

Just a simple plate to hold the sockets for the control box.

Next week, injector bosses :)

First bit of CAD -> CAM -> G-Code -> MACH3 except the test text.
Not mini related but its something i'm working on and had the guts ready to put in it.

3 lots of G-Code (top, left side, and right side), 5 different hole sizes all "pocketed" using a 6mm endmill.

Time to code up some injector bosses :)

Yup, just needs some knobs and painting.

Whole process works a lot better now we have the correct collets to hold the endmills rather than the chuck we used to initially test it :$

It's a rather steep learning curve but we are making progress :)

They are NEMA 23, 4.0 Nm.

Just getting warm to the touch after 3 hours of cutting, so seem man enough.

As this was a Lathe/Mill combo, I thought that I'd try it out as a CNC Lathe.

Tricky as the axis change X is now Z and Y becomes X. Luckily this can all be done in software.

Just left it turning up some inlet runner trumpets :)
