Whoa, that's a fantastic collection of information there Tom! It's certainly a lot of the questions I had, and wanted to ask about the A series engine.

It makes sense that the MG cam would be ideal in the turbo. The boost would calm it lower down (check! ) and the extra exhaust duration would allow it to empty "better" timed in earlier would allow the inlet to shut in the right place and give a good gas pulse for the exhaust whilst still allowing it enough time to get out at high revs. Be interesting to know what a bog standard metty turbo would put out with an MG cam and no other mods. My bet is quite a bit more. Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

If the standard turbo engine didn't have piston cooling jets, where did they originate from?
At the end of each race, people ask me what my oil pressure was like. It's only then that I think to check.

People making and installing jets themselves. No A or A+ block ever came from the factory with oil cooling piston jets.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but what about the extra oil galleries in the main bearings on the block?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but what about the extra oil galleries in the main bearings on the block? Was that a turbo only feature? or just something that some engines had and some didnt? All the standard 1275 blocks I've stripped down had just 1 oil gallery hole in each main bearing race. the 1 engine I stripped which I KNOW was a genuine turbo motor had 2 oil gallery holes in each main....
