Attacking individuals that make criticism of your products rather than defending them with reason and decorum.
Is that how you run an engineering business? Perhaps I should take note.

Perhaps Billets are forged in China and then CNC'd in the UK. What is to say that one forging can't be machined into a rod for any engine with a similarly close rod length?

I know feck all about Rods, it seems to me from reading over the years.

If you are building a reasonable power engine the std stuff is up to it. Even on some of the higher power stuff people are still running them with some work.

If you are going to go to an engine builder invest some serious hard earned cash and they say you need H beam super dupers, you are wanting to rev it until you can see the valves inprint themselves on the underside of the bonnet, why would you say no? You are going to be nuts deep with them anyway.

Lets all send out a big hus so we can all feel the tm love.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Well. The saenz rods that SH made together with Saenz( which is a well known quality rod designer/maker) weighs 434 grams with bolts, so they are quite a bit ligher. Also they have 100% reliability as far as I know

The Saenz rods are made in Argentina as far as I know...
This is the choice of my next race engine.

To cut a long story short his original opponent dropped out so he said he wanted to fight they paired him up with Someone a weight class heavier and 9years older (he's only 18 the same age as me) opponent ended up in hospital having his face stitched up. I would put it up here but don't want to spam it too much lol its mma total combat up north, 12th may in Durham, 4 fighters each fight twice in one night winner takes the belt and 500 sheets.

No mention of this mysterious 'double air remelt' process, just double remelt. They even tell you their rods are not forged, just billet. And, the even show a picture of stress analysis. You don't have to ask.

From the text:
"What is the difference between a forged and billet steel rod?

Forgings are easier and cheaper to manufacture and until CNC machining became popular, this was the only economical way to manufacture an steel rod. Billets actually cost more, but the finished product is actually stronger. Part of this is due to how the billets are manufactured, as billets allow for directionality of the grain structure and due to our ability to buy in volume directly from the steel mill, we can tailor the billets to our specification done by our metallurgist. Same goes with a forged versus billet crankshaft - billet is always better!"

BULLSHIT!

So, how many do you have to produce until forging is cheaper than CNC machining? Quite a lot!

I'm not defending anyone on this thread but from an outsider I can see where assumptions could be made.

One thing I will point out is that aren't we adults? I know I got a name for being a tool but is this needed? if you have a problem with something some one says pm each other find a way to resolve it, don't ruin your business names or tarnish others with miss understandings openly posted on here, keep it to the side lines people.

Back on topic gents,

as you may know i h ve not always produced my own billet centres , i had to use a local UK manufacturing jobing shop
they did do some initial FEA, but they have binned my data since i no longer use them,

luckily for me i still relied on the time honoured method of trial testing before releasing for general sale,

i started this way back in 1997 on my own cars and a couple of select others. not untill i was happy with the durability did i decide to make my wheels available for general use, thes early specced wheels were released in 2005

at this time i was approached my the ministry of defence to come up with a suitalbe wheel to be fitted to one of there vehicles, after an exhaustive material selection process taking no chances with our boys on the COAL FACE, sorry i meant front line, i came up with a suitable spec wheel to be put on test with them, they have been using this particular wheel for many years now and are more than happy with the results,

please see below of the vehicle sporting our wheels in service

il have a word Mike, and pass it up the chain of command and see what can be done. If they have no use within the Forces perhaps they could give me a grant to buy some for my mini.
