I'd like to keep it looking as it does. I'm not gonna be raising the back of the bonnet or anything like that. An ERA duct will be the limit.

The bolts on the clutch are from Nasbolts and are:
9off 1/4" UNF 11/16 grip short head Nas bolts
3off 1/4" UNF 3/16 grip short head Nasbolts
12off 1/4" UNF K nuts.
3 off 1/4" plain washers

Front sub off, painted and back on. Engine bay tidied up. I might move the fuse boxes inside later on.

I've come this far, I may as well do it right. For easy fitting I was going to get a smaller turbo, but have gone for a GT17

With the snail pointing down for a side mount intercooler there was no grinding of the block required at all

I made the breather pipes a while back, still have to decide where to put a catch tank. Does anybody know if that re-enforced hose is suitable for use on the turbo oil drain?

I've done a search but no joy, what's the brass pipe for just below the turbo inlet?

Thanks for lookin

Lovely looking mini and motor.

Life is always a matter of opinion and quite frankly, no ones opinion really matters.

Been in the garage every night for weeks. Just got fiddly jobs to do. I must have stared and drank beer for a week trying to figure out how to get the radiator and fan to fit.

Now need to: make nice brackets for the radiator fit
Hide all the wiring loom
Fit intercooler
Fit rear subby
Pray

Thanks. Yes a lot of cash, but it has been spread over about six years. That block has lived in two kitchens and two garages before getting built. I'm a slow worker lol

Re the front rad if anyone want to have ago, it's a Fiat cinq. I stared long and hard and didn't want to chop the car much. I cut the centre support bar and a little bit from the front apron. The grille fits in its normal place. The bonnet hook has to go as it fouls the water pipes. Fits nicely.
The fan was a bitch but eventually i got an 8 in fan to go in. Brise starter and compact alternator made this possible I think.

how are you planning the rest of your water cooling setup? running an expansion tank with a pressure cap ? wheres your turbo water feed plumbing back into?

That looks spot on mate! did you cut the fan much? just make sure its NOT wedged in there as the centre spindle will eat your rad!!! as I found out.

If you sack that water pump you will find you have so much more room for your IC. and it will make your pipe work neater and easier to work out.

simon.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

I've got a nice header tank from car builder solutions and the turbo water will go back into that. When the intercooler is in I will find a nice spot for the header tank to go

Until I pinched your idea of cutting out some of the plastic casing on the back of the fan I had no chance of it fitting. I cut out one quarter closest to the starter motor and now the engine could move 10 mm and still not touch the fan. I'll have another look at the water pump

If no ones said already the oil return pipe for the turbo needs to be oil resistant, nice build so far mate. Alan.

Is having the water go into the header tank the norm? I wasn't keen of hot water sitting there? Then going into the bottom hose I presume? And back round the engine again?

I'm trying to figure out my cooling route now. And was thinking turbo feed back into a spacer plate under the thermostat so once it warms up and the stat opens some of the hot water will go straight into the rad... I think lol

I can certainly relate to taking ages on projects!

Yea I need a rethink here. My header will feed the bottom hose. Out of the head by number four will be water in to the turbo. Out of the turbo I'm now thinking will go into the pipe leading to the heater.

What is the hose you have used for rad? I fancy some of that.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
