My own project has taken a bit of a back seat, but I have managed to get the actuator sorted now! Got the preload done and now the buisness bit of the engine is finished i think.
Got Clive to weld the two sections of rod together, V shaped and filled with weld so it's proper strong!

how did you go about polishing your acutator? was it originally that colour? as mine is blue but would love to get it back to silver..

It was originally that colour. If yours is anodized you'll have to sand that back, then move up through finer grades of sandpaper, then polish it up.

Perhaps because it's easy and its cheap?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

And it should be a little less laggy on a 1380.

John and wez have it in two.
Cheap, easy, plenty around. I know now I have somebody who can fabricate anything for me, but I didn't when I started. Then 1380 as wez said to lower where the turbo spools up at. MarkGTT's was pretty much the same setup. Not looking for balls out power, just as much as I feel will keep me happy, and I should be able to drive it off boost nicely round and about.

This still hasn't really been touched due to lack of money still :(
But this year I have the enthusiasm for it, and it may well see some new parts and progress!

I use a hybrid t3 on my 1380. Makes mad power at low boost, gives a nice kick but isnt undrivable. Can also drive the car around off boost with a light foot go good on economy/ around town/ on the mway. But flys when you boot it. Easy and cheap, built mine at home for about 150 quid all in

When I have money I have no time or enthusiasm and end up buying parts to store, and when i have time and enthusiasm i have no money, and when I have the money and enthusiasm I'm always mega busy. It's the good old pick any two situation!

Still gathering bits and pieces for my car and working on other small things that aren't the shell. Just been making up a megajolt tuning cable because I didn't like the cable and adapter supplied by autosportlabs. Was a complete pita to solder (probably my soldering skills tbh) but it's finished. Still got the hardcut board to solder up but i'll do that another day. Also santa bought me a steering wheel for xmas so I bolted my quick release to it, and this year I plan to make some progress on my shell now I think ive got a secure(ish) job. Might have to draft some help in with the welding though.

Time for a bigger update! My birthday the other day was the result of some more shiny parts (Red anodized DSN billet throttle pedal and matching pads for brake and clutch), but besides that some work has finally started on the shell. This isn't the original shell but it's another which is far more solid of the same age. Whilst I've been on holiday the shell has been with jez for some modification, some restoration and some unmodification, since this once housed a micra engine. Some pictures!

Today I've been stripping down my front subframe, ordered a pair of top arm rebuild kits although I've found one is okay, but I'd rather do the pair now, along with a few other bits and pieces so hopefully they'll arrive Wednesday ish. Tomorrow I'll wire brush down the subframe and other loose paintable items and give them a good coat of hammerite. Also going to weld captive nuts in for the sump guard to ease fitting and removal. Undecided whether or not to 'TM disease' my subframe yet, I'll decide whether I can be arsed to drill through it tomorrow lol.

Cheers Jonny, managed to make some progress yesterday on the front subby, managed to weld in some captive nuts for the sump guard, then I decided to alleviate the subframe of a bit of weight and my £10 drill that I had from b&q three years ago started smoking, so I didn't get very far haha. After the death of the drill I decided to start painting it, I'll just touch up where I drill afterwards.

Looking good
A lot of cutting oil needed when drilling.
Planning on enlarging the driveshaft holes aswell?
What are the 3 bolts for, hanging the frame for painting?

Dazed and Confused....
