I am right here. Have obviously been neglecting my duties lately.

WHY ARE YOU USING THE OVERSILLS????

I understand you enjoy swapping floors and sill every second year or so? Am I right?

EDIT: IT is also a very good idea to seam weld the oversills like you have done, makes it incredibly easy to get the crap off!*tongue*

With my Mini Naivety, As I have never gone into this much work on a mini, how can I spot an overseal on a shell ?

There are no vents, as there should be. Have a look at your pocture on the previous page and compare to proper sills on minispares or where ever

Over sill (partially removed):

Proper sill:

Easy to spot the difference. I'll bet the majority of unrestored minis and a good handful of restored ones have over sills on....

Thank you for attaching the pics fella.

I am definitely going to take these oversils off, think I wanna get it rolling again though and give them a go.

On a different note I nearly have both subframes completly painted ready to be reassembled :)

Good choice, its not a fun job but you will wish you had in the long run. i had them on mine when i bought it, it ruined the inner sill.

So my plan now is Floors / Underside of Mini painting

1. Kurust where applicable

2. Red Oxide from Rear Valance up to just before the Bulkhead and in Wheel Arches

3. Seam Seal (Tetrosyl Brushable Seam Sealer I bought) Seal ALL welds and joints

4. Apply Tetra Schutz from Rear Valance through to just before bulkhead

5. Stonechip Sills and inside wheel arches

Anyone think I am doing any of this ass about face ?

Today...... Guess what?

More cleaning and degreasing, didn't have a bad day to be honest, managed to finish cleaning the underside, flip it over and do the other sill which was inaccessible before, I found a few Pound Coin sized holes, but will get them sorted and welded up before painting

I also removed the factory fit Brake and Fuel line clips as well as the Headlamp bowls.

If you've found pound size holes in the oversill the original one will likely to be completely shot!

Have a good poke around the inner sill as that will be the next part to rot out, especially by the front inner wings and rear bins.

Oh no, The sills didn't have the holes in, it was the front arch and the rear arch.

Does anyone know the size of the bolt's that hold the "Top Arm Plate" to the subframe ? one screws into the Subframe and the other has a Nut on the other side.

Thanks just trying to get last bits from Minispares to assemble subframes.

I would suggest you use a sprung washer. Suspension components should be fastened with either a nyloc nut or a sprung washer.
