Blimey, did you know that the MS1 is now over 10 year old technology !

Not fair to compare it with a current product really.

And it wasn't even state of the art when it came out.

I did state that when I made my comparison.

I have had it on my car since 2004 though, when there was nothing else I don't think.

Jenvey offer a good selection of parts for idle air control to go with their throttle bodies:

The valve looks good value.

Good find Paul. that looks fairly simple to retro fit to my s.c. kit if the ecu can control it.

Is that a Stepper, PWM or an on off valve?

Looks like a 4-wire stepper to me. Best check with Jenvey first.

Am I correct in saying that it should be fine to test the 4 wire stepper off the outputs on the Jimstim?

If the stepper is approximately 56 Ohm then it should only be drawing about 0.2A per coil at 12V. I have a 1.2A PSU running the Jimstim/MS3.

I have tested the IAC outputs using the LED's and it seems to operate fine - although I was surprised at how fast the output operates.

If you mean connecting the stepper to the screw terminals on the JimStim and letting the MS drive it then yes it should be fine.

Just be careful that you do not fire the plunger across the room :)

Thanks for the advice.

Yes - I'll will be connecting it to the screw terminals. It came in the post today so hopefully get this working later.

I have heard about the potential firing issue - I expect I'll manage to do this :)

I cable tied mine to a piece of wood and screwed a woodscrew in so the plunger hit it at near maximum travel but before it shot across the room.

That way you can see if it zeros correctly, opens to start position correctly, then use the test programme in TS to drive to any other position to test it.

Put that all together and it confirms you have the four wires the right way around....

It certainly was more advanced than that: http://www.allpar.com/cars/desoto/electrojector.html. Look a little down the page to see what the electronics look like.

Just to update the Peugeot IACV worked fine off the Jimstim. I had similar problems when trying out the valve when not fitted to the body in that the pintile comes out.

As others found the MS doesn't remember the last position of the pintile so it is necessary to do some adjustment of the settings to ensure that the valve always starts in the same place when first powered up.

Thanks again for all the advice.
Just need to find a plug for it now - maybe a trip to the scrappy.

I have the start value set at 360. This ensures that the valve seats when the igntion is turned on. It will then travel to the value set in the table.
