Invented when walking on two feet was a new idea.

Show me something lighter that will take the torque for the same price?

It will take all the torque you can throw at it, pretty sure that its cheaper than a pre-vert, but not sure it will be as light.

If only I knew. It's a high density foam. It was left over from a plenum my mate made that he gave me. It's lots of bits stuck together.

Well this is the first time I have had a go and I got better as I went along, I also had an expert mentor.

I'm generally happy with the result, but as always I could do better next time.

I think the basics techniques are easier than welding, but knowledge of materials was the tricky thing. Now I know what I know I could build a CF house! (maybe)

Is the air box 2 piece? If not, how did you get the foam mould out?

Always wanted to try my hand at CF moulding

It is most likely the same high density foam art/design/model makers use - my son used lots of it when he did his HND in graphic design and I have a large box of offcuts left behind in his old bedroom. He got his from a specialist art/design outlet in Norwich. He only used it with GF, not CF but the principle is the same.

I kept the box of offcuts as I too was thinking about doing it this way after the time it took fabricating a plenum/inlet in aluminium by machining and welding.

You've certainly made it look easy Wil :)

Was your mentor they guy on here a while ago who made one for an injected Imp ??? (it was the pictures of his that first made me think about it).

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Is that with a lightened verto or standard? Even so that is still over 1kg which is a lot on roatating mass.

Looks really good wil, i wouldn't know where to start with making something like that. Is that the completed finish? or will it have the smooth shiney finish?

thats the original one i built in the clutch thoughts thread i started ,its on here somewhere lol.

my perspective was , the lower the gear ,the more the rotating mass slows it all down ,since i cant get grip up to about 65 mph ,its not a lot of point making it rev faster .and if you do the maths for 3rd and 4th , its a lot less 'additional weight on the car' effect ?

That is why I said fine for road not for race. Don't get me wrong I like the RTS, but when prople say (all be it jokingly) that it is caveman technology I have to question that.

Anyway lets not get too off topic on Wil's build.
