not a massive update as the repairs to the inner arches took me longer than expected, but all done now, not like new but its solid.

Also got the hubs on and it sit well - speed bumps might be an issue though.

Had a bit of time on the mini over the weekend, was having an issue with the gear linkage but i think i have sorted that by moving the bulkhead cut out, and i think it will fit now without the mechanism catching.

So test fitted the engine, spent about an hour in the bay, marked up what i wanted to ground back on the block and box and measured up for the master cylinders.

Also think i might need to elongate some of the mounting holes on the engine mounts.. it was sitting a bit snug on the front passenger side one.

Next job to change the 5th gear on the gsi box (going to use a taller drive from a diesel box) and change to a hydraulic clutch.

spent s few more hours in the garage today, wanted to swap the 5th gear in the gear set im going to use, will make it easier on the smaller rims, ive got a W355 diesel box so decided to use the tall 5th in a close ratio box.

Removed the end cover of the box just a bunch of 11mm and 13mm bolts, its a fairly simple job, just two circlips, two 5.5mm allen bolts and the gears can be removed with a gear puller.





The parts that needed to be removed / replaced.



Another job down :)

Looking good. Funny you should mention it but i picked my x16xe up yesterday

And i'm guessing those trumpets were from my car as its the ex allspeed demo which had the 1.6 16v replaced with a 1.4 8v to sell.

Hence why i'm going back to a 1.6 16v. Think i'm just doing a standard lump with my emerald ecu to get up and running but i did see some TBi's on ebay at a good price...

Yep those were the trumpets from that allspeed car - using an SBD inlet now and an MBE ecu

Not updated in a while im having to spend some time getting the masters to fit..

I have another spare X16XE sitting in the garage if you need any parts.. oh and 3 gearboxes.

Update time :)

Engine now in - i wont lie, it was a real struggle to get it sitting right and sticking the drive shafts in wasn't exactly a walk in the park! This conversion better be worth the blood sweat and swear words!

Before i could fit all the engine mounts the rear upper mount needed modifying



but its coming together now



Master cylinders fit well - wasn't sure they would clear until i got everything in.



before i can fit the rad i need to find a replacement for this.. (runs behind the block)






if by any chance someone has one of these i could find it a good home!

next on the list is either wiring and fuel lines or the gear linkage..
