T3 is on and working nice minus a small exhaust leak somewhere.

Got some refurbed wheels for a bargain, hopefully this will help with the torque steer, Hmmmmmmmm what arches to buy?????????

I am now starting to tidy up the nasty wiring and bodywork.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Unfortunately i havent been able to spend as much time as i would have liked on the mini over the winter. I want to have the mini looking decent for the summer so i have started on the respray.

The rear and the inside are painted, the roof and sides are halfway prepped. Not sure yet how i am going to paint the fibreglass
The doors were completely rotten and ive picked up a nicer pair for £40 from the local scrappy :)

I also snatched up the mpi tank aswell

Lots to do never enough time.. *frown*

Doors are stripped ready for repairing and painting, they are going to be electric/polycarb. I decided to fit the winders before painting because they are a bit of a tight fit.

When bolted up the top of the system seemed too far in the middle of the door, i guess this isnt a problem with glass windows as they push it back when wound up. i added a couple extra ties to pull it back onto the inner skin because i was worried it would scratch the polycarb.

Side is in primer hopefully get some colour on today, im following Benross' how to for cellulose which has made a scary job much easier.

looking good, some group 2s would go nicely with those new wheels too.

I went with the group 2s in the end, didnt like the wood and pickets and they wouldnt go on the fg front.

Another mayfair that isnt really a mayfair anymore, i like *happy*
Quite similar to what ive been doing/going to do, ive tinted my lenses the same, did you do the outside or the inside? mine arent very glossy as ive done mine on the outside.
Also, have you any pictures of how you mounted the alternator how you have?
ive got to solve the same problem for when my intercoolers got to go in because the alternators smack bang in the way of the intercooler takeoff. Cheers, and keep up the good work :)

I've done mine on the outside what paint do you use?
The alternator is off a matiz and is much smaller, i made a bracket off the subframe and the tensioner goes to the block, Ill dig out some pics.
Im not really happy with this setup because it is right behind the rad, im planning to flip it 180' towards the inner wing hole at some point.

ahh thanks, i wont have a rad there so it wont be a problem for me having to use a smaller alternator, i just need it lower, i used foliatec tint spray on the outside, but it kinda looks purple most of the time :(
and its a right pain to paint right, it doesnt behave like paint at all or go down evenly. what paint did you use on yours? just normal can gloss or celly gloss?

This is what mine came out like:

It passed mot last week *happy*
But the same evening when i pulled up water seemed to be gushing out from cylinder 1. I fitted and ultimate engine steady which mounts to the thermostat housing so i thought this caused the headgasket to fail.

The head gasket looked good so i suspect it was the waterpump gasket which had an area at the top that only sealed 1mm against the block. ive made up a new one one to try and im addressing some of the other cooling issues while im at it.
Plenty of work to do before Riv Run !!

Flipped the alternator 180' rotated the starter and tilting the radiator forwards into the front end, should get much better air flow and also make room for a second fan.

A little update
I am getting into hillclimbing and sprints now with my old man.
Sadly you cant really compete with a large bore turbo due to MSA rules so i am joining the small bore club.
We are all set for our first event in two weeks i just have to build the engine and prep the car for scrutineering *indifferent*

We have entered in the modified class C1. Next year I would like to run in production but there will have to be a lot of changes to the car.
