I've just found out that I kept the steel sensor screw in the wrong place*frown*

The MS guide requires cylinder no. 1 to be on TDC compression to set the cam sensor.

When the dots are lined up on the cam/crank sprockets, the engine is at No. 1 TDC exhaust stroke.

Luckily realised staight away when we tried to start it as it popped in the exhaust a couple of times.

Easily sorted by reversing the coil loom and taking 360 degrees out of the injection timing and all is well.

Best get it right in the first place though.

I've only used it on alloy sprockets.

It should work on a steel sprocket as I originally tested it. One long screw and enough distance between the body of the sprocket and the sensor so you just get a single pulse from the sensor every cam revolution.
