done a little bit more on the car. got the windows in (bar front screen which smashed during storage), but am picking a couple of new mpi ones up next week.

also started getting the interior in. using low mileage mayfair carpet, cooper door cards. the rear is part of a leather cooper garages set that i will be fitting to the car. walnut cappings are also cooper garages. the picture isnt the best to be honnest!

just need to sort out the front door cards, will be getting an elasticated pocket put on the bottom of them so i can do away with the plastic bins.

top dash rail from cooper sport 500 is in. earlier in the post there is a bottom one trimmed to match. this needs a bit of adjustment to get the switch panel to fit, hopefull will sort this out before long.

going to start to get parts together for new engine build soon.

Looks a Nice motor, luv the split rims...

I would go with the wider front screen seal from mini spares :)

New one are so much easier to put in....

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

fitted the heater today. its a mpi one. managed to get it fitting quite snug, considering the turbo box behind it. also went fir the mpi in car heater control, something less to worry about in the engine bay.

also fitted the seats. not looking too bad considering they have been laid up for a good 2-3 years. gave them a good going over with leather feed after the pic as they are a bit dry.

cheers joey.

i havent done a lot on this car recently as iv had quite a bit on. managed to get the windscreen in and a couple of other small bits.

need to get a move on sorting the twin tanks (left is mpi, right is gen s, going to try to run them both off the mpi pump). also need to sort the wheels out. then onto getting the engine in there. so a fair way to go yet.

on the good side i got my door cards from the retrim guy. got him to put some pockets on the bottom as per the paul smith edition minis.

fitted them tonight along with door furnature and door cappings. will get a pic when im next in garage.

been a while since i have updated this. again, it seems like little progress has been made, am plugging at it slowly though.

have the adaptors to plumb in the fuel tanks. also managed to track down a pair of new matching locking fuel caps (they are NLA new). tanks yet to be fitted though

i have timed the engine in properly.

the interior is fitted to the car. i am going for mini 40 dials (with spi rev counter so it reads accurately), along with 'john cooper' signature magnolia oil, time, volts clocks.

also fitted the front lights. they are p700 type, with flat clear front indicatiors.

also got moustach ends to fit to the grille. and i have also managed to tack down some bumpers that fit properly (stainless rover ones)

so when i get back from holiday i am going to sort the tanks, get the engine in. once that is done i can fit the front brake setup, sort the front ride height, fit the front arches, start to attatch the turbo and get the engine plummed/wiried in.

doesnt sound like much but still a fair way to go yet!

pictue quality is poor, i think my phone is on its way out!

thanks. yea, luckily i have been buying parts as i have gone along. though i know what you mean, i had to make a couple of large orders earlier in the year.

think i have almost everything to complete now. though once i can get it to run i will be looking at building another engine then.

hi, its been a long while since I last updated this thread so thought I would put something on. Today we got the engine to run on the edis part of the mj, albeit very roughly – I think it is running too lean or the fuel pressure is a bit too low, we will look into this soon. We also had a problem yesterday with no oil pressure, or no oil pumping at all (to the oil cooper, filter etc). I thought it might be an engine out job to change the oil pump. I primed it when I put it in, but the engine has been stood for a while, we managed to prime the oil pump via the oil cooler hose. We have also had problems with the float chamber, all seems to be resolved now.

The fuel tanks are in and sorted.

‘all’ I have to do is to fit the megajolt ecu, dash and clocks, steering cowl, speakers and refit bonnet, plus a few more small pieces. The hydraulics need sorting also. We also need to play with the fuelling to get it drivable so I can get an mot on in and get it over to the rr. Im hoping for around 90-100 bhp @ the flywheel, with 10psi. the car is covered in dust and hand prints at the moment, I think that’s why the pictures aren’t the best. Im aiming to get it on the road for the spring, and will get some nice pics up then. Once it is on the road I am going to make a new start, building a replacement engine for it.

some slightly older pics ..

cheers for the coments. it is getting there now. just finding the time to finish the last few bits off so i can get it ready for the mot. have to fit the starter spade, paint the mirrors, wire in the water temp gauge and finish off modding the underside of the bonnet to clear the hose work. it shouldnt be too long now at all. also needs a good clean inside and out. hopefully will get an mot spring time, then get it tuned and the wheel alingment set up, and it should be sorted then. next project is to build a higher spec turbo motor for it. when i get the car out and cleaned i will get a few more pics up. cheers again

hi, its been a while again...so thought id update the build thread.

i nearly have the car ready for mot now. just a few small jobs left, including sorting a water leak on the bottom hose, raising the pas side rear suspension slightly, giving it a good clean inside and out and fitting the badges. these shouldnt be a problem, when i will get time to get the mot sorted i dont know! next will be to get the front wheel alingment sorted, and get it rolling roaded. once i sort out the teething problems i will be on to my new engine build for this car.

excuse the mess and the pictures, the car is filthy at the moment!

new pistons - +73.5 forged accralites ready for the new build

i will get more pics when i get it outside and cleaned up!

cheers, dan

is that a 2wd or 4wd cossie intercooler?

its a 2wd one modded by benross. it fits in really well, i probably could have fitted a 4wd one - there is space. i plan to make a few holes in the bonnet once i get it up and running to help with the ic airflow. we had to mod the underside of the bonnet in a few places to get hose clearence. dan

i havent physically tried one in there. judging on the size of each either should fit by the looks of it.
