I have fitted quite a stiff return spring which I prefer the feel but I doubt it would be fun on a long motorway. Not bike carb mind.

For best performance you will need an air box with vacuum carbs aswell, they are not really suitable for sock filters. Only throttle carbs are…

had it running out on the drive today, found a water leak and got the idle set, megajolts all up and running on the TPS (fun to watch the needle move on the laptop) Got a horrible nocking which is either the Timing chain (worst case) or the water pump pully bolts are alittle long and cataching the casting. Still got the brakes to bleed and some brackets to make.
I've made a bracket that fixes on to the carbs and has a spring to close the throttle. Seems to work.

Thats a really tidy set up there, its a pity you aren`t a bit closer to Boggys as he has rollin road and tunes all sorts of cars.I have bike carbs on my 1380 and they sound fantasic, only down side is the fuel economy!120 miles to a tank!

Right. all taxed and tested. Owning a house really take ups car time. New KAD quickshift is in. Brill bit of kit. new steering wheel in nice deep dish. Going out tomorrow with a mate in the passnager seat with the laptop to tune it up. Try and get it feeling ok before spending loads of cash on the rollers.
Any advice on tuning a megajolt.
I've got a alden Yellow disy map as a start.

I need to find a rolling road who likes a challange to help getting the map sorted out on the mega jolts and the bike carbs set up. I definatly have one running richer than the other at idle. Found the idle mixture screw now which is one.

is it a mixture screw or air screw? some bike carbs have air screws and the fuel is controlled by one of the jets

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I use a rolling road near me which have set a few minis for me, which have been running bike carbs and megajolt. You may find that the carbs are running lean, there are a few holes under the cover of the feed side, we normally have to block one of the holes.

I wouldn't block all of them as you need the air flow for the jets its norm 1 or 2.

you will need to size the jets correctly.

As graham said we only have to block one of the holes not all 3 holes.

yeah we run quad bike carbs (kwaka ZX9) on one of our small bore 998 twin cam minis, (only cause they only cost $120 & have the same bore spacings as the Bimmer Cyl heads) *smiley*

they`re normally (on the bikes) fed with pressure so there are some dramas setting them up "non-pressure-fed" & yes they have seperate idle control jets & emulsion tubes & idle mixture screws,,, they`re a great carb.

Yours look like the late ZX9/ZZR1100 carbs yeah?

usually they need a heap more fuel thrown at them when fitted to a mini engine (in my experience) , but those foam socks will make them "Very" rich (i expect)

we still have some more playing to do with this set up,,, but for a little N/A 998 that cost very little to buid, it`s not too bad to have 60-ish hp @ the wheels hey?

Alex, there is a "DynaJet" kit avaliable for them,,, a mixture of different springs & needles & jets & such,,, not sure where you can get them at your end of the planet tho, ask the bike shops

well done mate

an easy way to determine the right mainjet size is a nice stretch of road and a starting point wich you pass at lets say 30mph in second gear and booting it.

A couple of hundred meters further down (or maybe less if you have a hell of an engine) you have another mark where you clock your trap speed. the fastest main jet configuration is the right one*wink*

I have powerjets going on mine, with them fitted you can go up/down 10 main jet sizes by turning a knob (in my case 4 cirquits)

could it be possible that when replacing the bumper, the headlights might been affected? i mean when i replace my bumper, when i put my headlights into full beam the light was dimmer and there, i think there might be something happened when i replace my bumper.
