It will all be to do with resonance. If the exhaust pulses at any point matched the natural resonance of the Aluminium, it will infact amplify the noise.

I posted up ages ago about the stainless manifolds that actualy made the exhaust quieter, and was shot down *laughing* I'm dam sure I read it in TBASE, but the third edition doesnt mention it and my second edition is long gone.

Also, stainless systems usualy are lighter than their mild steel counter parts, as thinner guage steel can be used as it doesnt rot out anywhere near as fast.

My playmini system is very light in relation to the mild steel RC40 that was on the car when I got it

So with some kind of exhaust wrap you may be able to stop the resonance? It may only need to be a spiral wrap around and not necessarily cover the entire exhaust. *Confused*

Removed sound deadening from quarters with heat gun, didn't seem to be as tough as the stuff on the floor! 1KG.

Removed bottom dash cover 1KG, and another 1KG of wiring and fittings etc...so im now at about 579kg's.

Thought I'd best sort the loom out once and for all, it was like an explosion of wires.....

Found a couple of bits of rust in an awkward place, not sure what to do with them? Any suggestions of how to sort it? *oh well*

WOW! thats erm... a mess lol

The rust get some dremel action on it, cut out the rotten bit then go over it with a wire brush in a drill or something easy to get in the gap when its out and sorted weld a small plate in *happy*

just think of it this way, if i didnt start this weight loss the rust would of got worse and it woudl of been harder to find and sort it all then *wink*

The only thing is the rust goes past the kind of door post section (not sure what its called) If I cut the top off to get to the rust behind, would it be okay to leave out? Im glad ive caught it ealry though.

It was quite neatly taped up, but then one thing lead to another and after an hour of foreplay it ended up like this. Lol

I managed to get 2KG of rust out of the gaps in the plated over plated floor pan on my mates 1275gt. I just couldnt believe the mountain of rust that was on the floor after I had brushed it out!! It was no surprise then when there was nothing solid to weld to. LOL he said just patch it up and I said you just cant weld to fresh air.

Haven't managed to do too much more weight removal as the wiring has taken all my time to sort out. Ive got about half the amount of wires than before though. Lol

Thanks to Paul Wiginton for giving me the spare loom, I managed to rob most of it to make a good loom up!

Still need wrapping, but is much neater than before!

My new clocks to go in.

My new dash to go in.

My new dash in place...just need to work out how to fix it in? *Confused*

How are you sorting the speedo Matty?

I have a cunning plan, just need to work out the frequency

Mine runs on a +5v-0V signal, so im going to use a VR sensor and toothed sprocket. I need to find out what the gear ratios are for an R6 then I can make the sprocket the right size to give me the correct speed. *wink* Plan B would be to use one of them frequnecy converters to get the speed calibrated and use some kind of pulse generator.

Whats Your plan?

I have a speed sensor off a Rover which looks very easy to adapt to the Mini speedo drive. Need to work out the frequency of the speedo set to work out what drive gears are needed.

Little fucking around *wink*

I was looking at the Suzuki GSXR workshop manual, and the speed sensor is on the gearbox output. I cant quite work out the reluctor profile, but its not much bigger than the retaining nut.

The Rover speed sensor is 12v though, not sure about the clock set, but i am looking at something off a car anyways now :) still need to resolve the speed sensor issue though
