We have Carl's oil fed thrust conversion fitted. We think a badly setup double grey is to blame. We're yet to pull the engine and see exactly what the cause and effect is...

Yep wasn't the fuel at all. It was the thrusts and me being too drunk to realise.

I was given a complete turbo engine if you recall I was going to sell it on here for £300. when I took it apart for inspection the fool that rebuilt it forgot to fit the thrusts! you can imagine the carnage that was done.

So as I am off to Minispeed this morning and having just (as it happens) seen this post ill take the block and centre main cap along and see if they can be salavaged

Own the day

is this mod somthing that needs to be done at a machine shop (my engines there now :)) or can it be done diy ?

I guess getting the holes drilled straight is the only real concern ?

Will my project ever be finished !!? hopefully you guys can help !
Its only been like 10 years in the making and I'm only just assembling my engine!

It can be done diy, if you have the correct equipment ,know what you are doing ,and send me the mandatory £30 levy for using my idea without asking ,

So a 2mm hole straight through to the oil gallery and 2 holes tapped for brass fixings. Where might one get such fixings ?

Does this need to be done on both sides ? presumably not as the clutch only pushes on the crank one direction...

Oh yeh and £30 in the post *wink*

Have been lurking the forums for ages but project progress has been slow (5-6 years now i think haha). Will be doing an introduction and readers rides thread soon... im sure your all thrilled but thought id mention it lol.

should it not be done on both sides? I would think so as the oil pressure would push the crank towards the back of the engine when the clutch is not in use otherwise?

Andre, there no way the pressure from such a small hole would ever force the crank in the other direction,

work it our 65lbs per square inch, whats the pressure at 2mm dia hole

0.32lb of force, which assumes the 2mm dia hole is perfectly sealed against the thrust washer, which of course it is not.

Warwick.

Bit of a thread revival, but is this worth doing when using an RTS clutch set up?

And would you need to put fixings in the cap too?
I understand the tang is there to hold it in place and it not being oil-fed its not likely to be pushed dry against the crank face.

Thanks

David.
