Blue and orange are gonna look great!!!

Thought i'd post a tiny amount of progress.

Now im making the dash, I thought I better put the rollcage in to make sure that they are going to clear etc.



Unfortunatly it didnt quite clear on one end.



Ive made it now so theres a tiny gap between but still only 4mm. I cant cut it any further back without messing up the shape of it. So im hoping a 4mm gap will be enough.





Found some rubber strip that might go nicely on that edge.



Then I needed to sit in it and make some vroom vroom noises, as you do.





Going to hopefully start cutting carbon fibre tomrrow.
Has anyone done this before? I havnt really worked with it before, whats the best tools to use? Ive got a ban saw but im not sure if it will just rip it up :s

what do you do for a living, looks like you have one pimp bike and somthing else going on, do you do custom builds or is that just your stuff!

Finally! I have the internet again!

Almost there with the dash now, just need to get some more sheet to finish the side of the centre console on the drivers side.

Got the mounts and shit for the fuel tank tacked in, its mounted on exhaust rubbers to give... im not sure what, but it was fun making it :)

As the fuel tank wont be mounted on something flat, but mounted at each corner, I wanted to make sure it was supported so I made this frame.







Looks abit high from this angle, but once the cars sat low, it will look alright I think, and I can store shit under it in the Spare wheel tray.




Just need to fit the drivers side carbon panel at the bottom, and make the drivers side console side.



Thats all, just need to think of where I can put the battery box, any ideas? And then I can spray the interior & boot!

I'll post some pics up of my Thomas the tank engine coloring book once ive made a bit more progress.

I know a guy who is part of this site and hes got a smaller battery in a fiberglass box and sunk it into the seat crossmember. It looks good. If your interested give Richspec a pm and ask him where he got it.

This is my battery box, steel/alloy lid, rubberised inside, bike batteri is strapped inside (laying down), ventilation hose through the floor. The box is welded to the seat panel…

Just thought, I cant have one sunk into the seat crossmember turbogt, as I think the beam axle will be in the way.

I think either behind one of the seats, or like your Marcus.

Looks good.

A few comments though, is the seat bolted straight to the floor with no strengthening? In my experience, seats fitted like this wobble a lot, the floor isn't too structural either.

And, although it looks great, that fuel tank mounting looks mighty heavy. I'd bin the two cross members to start with.

I've got this pic of bens seat mounts:


Captive nuts are inside the box section tubing which are welded to the floor, seems more solid than mine which is just side mounted to the floor with spreader plates on either side of the floor pan!

Its not too heavy, its only thin wall stuff, im gonna drill a load of holes in it to lighten it up abit when I get home tonight.

I dont really wanna cut the cross members out as they are the reason I made it, to stop the middle of the tank sagging.

I used to have a standard battery there, it fits fine

as wil says id beef up the floor slightly around the seat mounts too as in my experience the floor will bend as soon as anyone slightly large sits in there

My Floor has a Steel Strap all the way along from side to side, that follows the contours of the tunnel

1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

Another option for seat mount is to go onto the sill and the centre tunnel - using the front cross member as well - have done this with the seat in the gold car and its rock solid

Mine was bolted to the floor and moved around loads. I now have two square-section bars that run from sill to tunnel which the seat is mounted on.

Erm, this is what ive done with the seat mounts, its abit hard to see in Rich's pic of it. The centre mounts are welded to the tunnel and floor so they are pretty solid. Ive bolted the seats in and tried wobbling and they seem sturdy.



The ally seat mounts bolt to these mounts as you can see in Rich's pic.
