Called him today and he said he posted it this morning, and says it will be here tomorrow so we will see. I agree simon is a top bloke just needs to be realistic with ETA's. Sounds like he has been busy, had a chat with him for a 10mins today and said he has been working till nearly midnight trying to catch up on work. Sounds like he is making a serious effort to rectify things normally get the impresion he just says anything to get me off his case, today he seemed to want to talk. Big thumbs up if he gets things back on track.

Well I have my package, but not what I was waiting for!!!!

I have pretty much everything apart form the bits I need. Waiting for my pistons and conrods still. Can't do much without them. At least I can get the crank, flywheel, backplate, bottom pulley balanced once I get the tigger wheel welded to the bottom pulley. Slowly getting there bit by bit.

Mike, did you tell Simon how much you wanted taking out of your pistons, or does he do them to a norminal depth?

He ask how far down the bore the pistons were when at TDC, and there are 3 different thickness head gaskets. I am gonna dummy build it up when they come and check the valve to piston clearance. Simon is sending them not on the rods so I can put a loose fitting pin in the piston if there is any problems I can send them back for machining deeper pockets.

The head had the bare miniuimum skimmed when it was machined to keep the CR down as it will be turboed.

Time to start measure chamber sizes this week. :)

Ah right..so if you do manage to get them back, you might need to send them back for reworking...Lol

Has he told you what kind of cc's have taking out for each piston?

I will finish of machini9ng them myself if they need anymore. The only reason I took them to morspeed was to save myself some time. Ended up taking about 10 times longer lol and costing me money. I could have done it for free at work, just didn't have time a few months ago.

But saying that, from past experience I am sure they will be spot on and I won't need to machine any more off them. Simon does do a top job normally.

Just hoping my parcel arrives tomorrow morning

Do specialist components do piston machining? If they do you should take it there!

He really is taking the piss now!

This aint a good thread for me....

If one of my 11cc pistons has indeed gone do I really want to trust that Morespeed will do me a replacement in a reasonable time..

Add to that the complications of shipping (last time it took him weeks..) and I am seriously wondering...

Hi,
I shouldn't post here really as I've got no experience of this company, but from what I've read Tel I'd get it done somewhere else.
Not that machine shop you used for the other jobs either *wink*

You read my mind!! First I'm going to ask the guy who DID do the work for me, Hopefully his lathe can take something that size, I'll at least have an old piston for him to copy.
