Is that the sl4 frame? Are you opting for the 9000 group set or the 7900 group set. Make sure you get the ultegra or dura ace rear cassette. When I bought my Trek Domane and upgraded the group set to Dura Ace the wheel set was fitted with a Sram cassette which made for poor shifting. Had it swapped with the chain and it transformed the bike.

Yes, it's Di2. Not that I need/want it in particular, but this was the only bike that ticked all the boxes in every other respect: high modulus carbon, colours, ultegra groupset, tyres, sportive geometry, internal cable routing, oversized headset etc etc.

It's an SL4 frame with the 6700 10 speed groupset, apart from the cassette and chain that are lower spec. Wheels and cassette will the first things on the upgrade list.

Destination: Mt Ventoux sometime in 2015 when I should be down to my target weight and strong enough.

Santa's been :)

Made an error about the laptop. Apparently you need the new 11 speed for laptop adjustment. This is just simple button pressing.

It came fully assembled. And before you ask, I've checked it out.

Joe, it's just something I "cobbled" together (get it?).

Don't forget to make a note of the frame number before it gets mucky/scratched down there.
Looks lovely, bet you can't wait to take it for a ride :)

Well, I finally have another BMX again!
It's a 2008 fit flow trail, which originally looked like this: http://www.fust.jp/images/FIT08FLOW.JPG
I bought it off my mate who hasn't used it all that much, the rear rim was replaced when he annihilated it for a stronger chrome odyssey hazard lite rim (which I had from new and was about 2 years old then) and now its around 6 years old the chrome is knackered on it :(
Now I've got it, I don't really want another white bike, so I'm going going for something completely new to me
So, I started rawing and polishing the bars
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...799554546_n.jpg
and started polishing up the stem:
https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...923461016_n.jpg
And so far this is where I'm at:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...975292129_n.jpg

But this is what i'm aiming for, unsure whether to strip and polish the rims or just paint them black yet though (I wont be running brakes on this).

(for anybody interested, the bmx colour software I was using was http://bmxcolor.narod.ru/main.html )

Bike registered with Spez.

A bit apprehensive about riding today it to be honest, wet roads and lots of hurried delivery drivers about. I might just make do with looking at it for now :)

Should I take out some insurance?

Looking at shiny things is half the fun in owning them! I've never bothered insuring my bikes but then they've always been around a grand or less, and theyre never out my sight or secure, but for things over that I would be tempted to insure them, as you know what some opportunist thieves can be like this time of year, or even all year round really :/

Insurance for you or the bike?

If you want insurance for the bike, try your house insurance. Quite often they'll include the bike up to a cost for like £40 or something.
As for insurance for you, well worth it. If you just want some basic insurance, it would be worth joining British cycling. (As much as it pains me to say it)

For winter riding I have just fitted some continental 4 seasons tyres very pricy but highly rated.

Added my bike to the contents insurance last month. Even covers you if you smash a wheel up in pot holes etc. Only a couple of quid extra a month.

Yeah but how much is your bike covered for. I have Lloyd's insurance and they will only give me up to £500 per bike!

My bike is on the house insurance with AA and has an agreed value of £4000 which includes accidental cover and away from home and it only cost around £30 extra a year. Well worth it.

£30 a year I'm happy with. Specialist bike insurers want £300 a year. Include all our bikes and it would be nearer £1000 a year. Pffft.

I set myself a target to ride 2013 miles in 2013 after doing about 1500 miles in 2012.

Total currently stands at 3411 *frown* So now trying for 3500.

This year I've actually cycled further than I've driven a car !

The dilemma is what would a suitable target for next year?

Final count for 2014 - 3514 miles, 198 rides over 278 hours.

About 60% on the road, the rest on the MTB and a bit of turbo.

Target for next year will be 3k miles as it looks like I might have to do some work as well :( I'll set a target for each month, minimum 250 miles and increase it if I can.

PS - new bike is frigging awesome :)

Cool,

Ive done less than I thought,

2212 miles,

164 hrs

117 rides

82,750 ft climbing (although 1/3 of that was in one week....)

I'm gonna shoot for 5k next year.

Just booked the flights for our February training camp. That'll be a months worth of cycling in a single week *smiley*

Planning to do a few categorised climbs.
