Not done much on the motor lately.. been busy building a shed in the garden for the wife… thought I'd do a little this evening, hung the exhaust…

Gone for a 'play mini' large bore system…

Had to chop the turbo down pipe an inch or so to get the sleeve over both ends...

Then joined link pipe to back box…

Sits nice and low… possibly too low…. there is about 2.5 inches clearance from back box to ground..

Thats it hanging with the rubber donuts.. I could get it further off the ground if I used jubilee clips or something…

Had a bit of an issue with the link pipe… as the down pipe from the turbo is locked into position when the clamp is done up, it sits quite a bit lower than the tunnel. The link pipe has a bend in it for the gear stick box but it doesn't marry up correctly as the down pipe is so low.. I had to rotate it so the bend went up into the tunnel… not ideal but looks best in that position. Its not touching at the moment but wondering will there be any implications if the link pipe comes into contact with the underside when moving about regarding heat problems?

Anyway, I like the look of the tail pipe… nice and large..

Should be nice and throaty….

Got the intercooler plumbed in this afternoon… from a MK3 Escort RS turbo…

Made sure I cleaned all bends and tube lengths after they'd been cut to git rid of any swarf and other shite…

Not the biggest intercooler in the world but the flip front reduces the amount of places I can mount stuff. Need to make up some brackets so its fixed solid. It will stand fully vertical, its only slanted slightly in the pics as its hanging free at the moment.

Sits nicely behind the grille in the airflow…

That'll do for today...

Thanks... I may put a longer bit of tube where the far left tube is so the intercooler sits more square with the grille. I'll see...

Had a little mess around with the plumbing this evening.. lengthened the tube on the left and shortened the one on the right… bringing the intercooler more square on to the airflow…

Probably making it a fraction more efficient square on to the air… will sit something like this hopefully…

Well thats the plan anyway...

If nothing else, adjusting the lengths has satisfied my OCD! Haha

Thats not OCD, just getting it right, to fit with the quality of the rest of the job.

Maybe a slight bit of OCD involved *hehe!*

What do you chaps think about the size of the intercooler? Do you think it's a good enough size?

looks very similar in size to the Ibiza one I'm using; had no issues with it yet

Looks like a good sized intercooler, and you still have access to everything to save buggering about with removing it each time.

Had a mess around with the MJ set up today, offered up the EDIS and coil pack in a few different places but decided for drivers side of the bulkhead. EDIS just to the right of the brake & clutch master cylinders…

And the coil pack to the left…

It's starting to look like a proper engine now… messy that is!

Routed trigger wheel sensor wires under the scuttle, down passengers side bulkhead and out through the hole in the gusset…

Had a bit of an issue fitting the sensor, the bracket has a slot in it the diameter of the sensor all the way across it making it impossible for me to mount the sensor the way most others have that I've seen…

Ideally I want it rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise but the slot across the bracket won't allow a fixing…

Anyone see any issues with the way its mounted here?

Had another look at my old wiring loom also… It's not good at all.. it's a friggin mess if I'm honest. I may just have to bite the bullet and get a new one… had a brief look at possibly making one myself but by the time I've bought all the cable I could probably buy a pre made one for not much more...

Could be talking rubbish but is that Edis on an adequate heat sink? .

I mounted mine on a chunk of ally.

No your right.. it needs to go on something anyway. I just didn't have any appropriate heat shied at the moment. It will be mounted on something suitable before she's fired up.

What do you think of the sensor in that position? And the gap between sensor and trigger wheel?

I've got the same bracket, had no problems, just not the nicest solution. I switched out a load of washers for another nut which allowed me to get the sensor slightly closer.

Sorry but I don't like that bracket at all. I would say that as I make a much nicer one!!
You could improve it massively with some tube to properly support the sensor.

Yeah not that keen on it myself being honest… how do you mean Tom, with tube?

Gap looks a little big, but it is not difficult to set it as specified i.e <1mm as long as your trigger wheel has no runout.
