Yep sticking with the Typhoon, has I already have it and it will Full sequential and coil on plug.I'll then be using the DTA and Motorsport spec loom on the 1460, as it weighs about 100g less.

Yep Mike sure am. I've not used the BMW for weeks. The Micra has taken a major hammering. It love's it. Sounds amazing from 5k-7k rpm.

I've grown rather fond of the little engine. It's really surprise me how good these engines are. With another 50bhp it should prove itself as a cost effective engine swap.

Ive totally fallen out of love with the A-Series, not through unreliability or anything just the cost of screwing good power for the costs/down sides, when say 100BHP straight out the box from a scrap car costing £250 is out there.

Yes the initial outlay of the subframe and drive shafts can be slightly costly, but if you pop an engine its dirt cheap just to buy a replacement.

I thought about this conversion for my clubby estate but didnt look too far into performance upgrades. Cost wise, it was looking attractive though.

Would it fit in a round nose easily enough Matt?

Purely why I went with small block vauxhall, i know folk have fitted the red tops in round noses, but I didnt wanted to chop up my front end too much.

Yes mate, I bought a Mirca with 40k for £500, turn out to be in mint condition. I insured & tax it, so I could test the engine & box. It drives like new and is shame to break it for the engine.

So I bought a MOT failure for £200 with 39k on the clock and drove it back from Manchester to Mansfield with 4 days Tax & test.

The plan was to sell the Mint Micra, but I know decided to keep it for a while. I'm going to sell my 320d and start looking for something else. In the meantime I'll use the micra, then sell it in for a profit.

I've also bought a 15k 998 later coilpack engine for the flat top pistons and cylinder head. The 998 & 1275 share the same head. Just different stroke crank and longer rods.

The 998 head will be going for some head work, valve job and skim on Friday oblong with the new cams from Piper. The new cams will need reshiming once the valves have been resest with 3 angled seats.

Hopefully Matty from Fusion should have all the manifolds done by the end of the month, once I've sent to bits over to him on Friday.

Next job is to remove the 7 port engine and decide whether to sell it as a whole or break it. Hopefully before Bingley mini show on the 31st of January. I'll be selling it along with several other engines, - my old 1293 turbo block, new omegas, new SC steel riods. Complete 1330 with omegas, ARP etc. A Nice Med 5 port head, K1200rs head, SCCR box, Loads of DSN stuff, inc new timing cover etc. 7.9 Minisport brakes etc. & Loads of nice stuff I've been keeping for a rainy day. All to be listed shortly.

They turbo very well aparantly. 9.5-1CR as standard, so can take 7-8psi. But need aftermarket ECU,

This doesn't bode well for our wallets!

The engine choice makes sense, there's a couple of Micra's in local sprint and hillclimb series that give it death and produce some really good times. As you point out, donor cars are available cheaply so they have plenty of spares! Good luck with the build.

Well... i am honestly obsessed with this now, ive never been that bothered with non-mini engine conversions before but im really intrigued by the simplicity of this engine and the pricing too!!
Especially how you say the blocks and heads are all the same no matter the cc and that the difference in cc is the crank/stroke.. Am i right? Are these engines the k11 from the 90's micras.. Am i right in thinking the cg13 is the 1.3 and cg10 is the 1.0, What are the other numbers in the code?

Edit- just found it.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_CG_engine

Gearboxes vary tho? And also available in 1.4..

Yes, the early 998 have a smaller gearbox and 160mm clutch. All 1275's use a bigger box and clutch. They can be swapped, but the 1275 is best for the increase in torque when modifying. 998 use a 4.4Fd whereas the 1275 have a 3.895 equates to a 2.9FD in mini terms in 5th gear.

Power wise, 75bhp, but detuned with a very restricted exhaust and inlet manifold. The micra boys are running 100bhp in stock engines, with just filter, janspeed manifold, decat and chipped Ecu's.

Power is there to be found -

Cats removed and 4-1 manifold = 15bhp
Bigger Throttle 5bhp
Cams 12bhp
Throttle bodies 10bhp
CR raise 6bhp
Head work 10bhp

Approx 120-130bhp

The rally boys run up to 7800rpm on standard bottom ends. 5.1FD and Gripper LSD are also available.

The later 1348cc CGA3de engine is a slighter larger bore and stroke and gives 82 bhp. In the micra scene the 1275 is more popular to modify due to the complexity of the later ecu and wiring. The Nissan ecu can be modified with a Nistune daughter board, but for the mini a few people are using microsquirt and 36-1 trigger setup for similar money.

Ok, so the 2 different frames allspeed offer for this is for the early 1.0 gearbox and other? When you say early units when did they change? Do the later 1.0 share the 1275 gearbox size?

Not sure when they changed, but I think 1996 on 998's use the same box.
