I had my bmx set up that way, lhd and rh rear brake. Because i rotated left and ground on the right. My identiti is normal though and I can pretty much switch brake sides without thinking about it if i were to jump on two separate bikes. I do miss my bmx.

Hired a Cannondale in Majorca for a weeks cycling. That was a left hooker. Made for interesting descents of some big mountains.

Tried to put some air into my tires today and cant get the bloody bead to seal. I'm running tubeless with nobby nics and no matter how hard I pump I cant get them to seal. Total bastard, now I have to buy a coimpressor. Can't ride my bike until I have one or borrow one.

Try putting a couple of straps on it, push the top down and it will squash the bottom. Sometimes you can get it to seat with a track pump doing it like that.

That was before I had my compressor :)

It's continental style too. Most of Europe ride with the brakes on the wrong side. And yes, it is the wrong side. Lol

Selling the bike with the brakes continental style actually breaks the law I believe. It certainly doesn't meet the BS6102 guidelines.

But to be fair, I'd be more worried about the number of bikes coming out of hellfrauds with the forks the wrong way round than the brakes backwards........ Lol.

It's about time they made it compulsory that bike builders and mechanics HAVE to have qualifications to be able to do the job.

I don't have any qualifications to put bikes together, but I'm more than capable of doing anything on them! As with everything though, a piece of paper doesn't mean diddly aquat in some instances!

I was in Scicily last week on the bike touring, did about 380 miles and about 25000ft climbing.

No, but like every qualification, it is supposed to mean you have a level of competence, and PROPER training. The amount of people I've taught over the years that can 'fix' bikes yet don't understand the first thing about torque values etc is enough to tell me there should be compulsory qualifications.

I don't obviously mean yourself.

But consider the bikes in Tesco for instance. The bikes could very probably have been assembled by the trolley collector. And then sold to little Freddie to ride. It shouldn't be allowed.

Chapeau mate. I would love to do something like that.

I noticed from your Strava data that you actually cycled in and out of the airport and stayed at a different place each night.

Was it an organised tour? Did you have a support vehicle? How did it work? How was the bike packaged on the plane? Just curious :)

I nabbed an old hybrid and put some bigger tyres on and a rack and paniers,

got a cheap bike bag and packed it up, spacers on the dropouts and some pipe lagging round stuff, zip ties etc....

a guy from our club booked flights (ryanair from stanstead £160 inc bike) and a hotel for the last night, we stuffed the bikes together at the airport, and biked to the hotel we'd booked for the last night which had agreed we could leave our bike bags there.

from there on basicaly no planning, one guy had a tablet so we were able to book a couple of places a day in advance, but mostly just googled hotels on phone or tablet, turned up and bartered for a room. we were paying around 30-35 euro's most nights, some were 50 a night but that included a decent dinner.

No support at all, and no major incidents, I had a chain go, but just pulled a link out of it, and also had a couple of spokes go on the back wheel... just retrued the wheel on the fly and then got the wheel repaired for 20euro's.

LOL

I'm not gonna lie.... it was fucking hard! the first day nearly killed me due to the heat, 2 of us split of from the others ( who are all fucking fit bastards!) for a couple of days and took an easier route up the coast.

I basically did what you said, if HR creeps over X stop for a bit, i found I could go for about a mile depending on the heat/steepness ect then stop for 30 secs to a minuite and crack on again. most of the inclines were 5-8% but LOOOOONG, but there were a few sneaky killers which were normally short and sharp.

I was amazed in just a week how much fitter I got, the last day we had a proper peleton on the go and were dicing with some old boys on their carbon racers on the flats LOL.

Haha, that'll be me next year then.

The wife has just bought a carbon Spez. Picking it up tomorrow :)

Bracing myself for a good thrashing. At least I don't need an excuse to get my own :)

I've been borrowing this from a guy at work and trying to get out on it, I'm having fun but realising quickly how unfit I am. Using strava to track my miles and climbs etc.

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet
