I was surprised. I thought more like 750kg. But then you add it all up, and look at all the light weight bits and it sounds about right. Standard clubman is 655kg add 20kg for turbo stuff, 25kg sound deadening and audio gear. Alloy head -5kg, flywheel -2kg, etc.

Fitted an oil cooler all ready for IMM. Small Mocal 115mm by 10row.

Seems to bring the oil temp down by 10oC to 102oC Max,

I run a a dinky oil cooler too, and a stat, found it great on the motorways.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Where did you run the cooler from and to?

Block to cooler, then cooler to filter via braided 1/2 BSP hose, fittings and adapters

How else could you run it?

It's fitted where the hard pipe usually goes from block to oil filter housing.

Not running a Stat at the moment, maybe fit one for the winter months. It seems to come up to temp just fine and sits at about 94oC on the motorway and 100oC if thrashing it. However it was 24oC ambient yesterday.

That sounds good. The constant speed on the motorways does seem to push the oil temps up!

Yes John, I've copied you, I decided the 7 core was too small. I think we've made the right choice.

Maybe it will run a little cooler with the water cooled GT17 when I can be bothered to swap them over.

Ok after a year or so and 2500miles running the road going 7 port Turbo, I've decided to ditch the A series and try my hand at something a little different. The A series as been fine, but I've got almost 10k invested in the engine, and don't use it as much as I should. I've decided to fit a cheaper option and start to use the car a lot more, and actually have some fun.

Originally the plan was b18c1, Integra 190bhp VTEC, but I've finally settle on a Nissan Micra 1.3 engine.

Why? Good question.

Lightweight
DOHC 16v
Safe to 8k revs
Gears ratios ideally suited to 10"
Cost
Packaging

This will be a slow build, as am also trying to get the lightweight clubby finished by spring for serveral trackdays.

Plan is a relatively cheap engine, reliable and enough power to keep in touch with most minis.

Standard bottom end
Worked Cylinder head
Increase CR to 11.5-1
Piper reground 285 Ultimate Road camshafts, 272deg 64deg overlap
BMW K1100 34mm throttle bodies & SC ram pipes
Nissan primera 197cc injectors
Custom Fusion inlet and 4-1 branch exhaust manifold.
Upgraded clutch
Standard gearbox
Typhoon ECU
Sequential fuel and igntion.

Hoping for 120bhp & 100flt.

lowestoft suffolk

Just checked them out... surprisingly cheap, i was expecting a much higher price tag, surprised theres not more non a-series out there tbh with more gears and more bhp for a fraction of the cost

I thought about this conversion for my clubby estate but didnt look too far into performance upgrades. Cost wise, it was looking attractive though.

Will be watching with interest
