Have you blocked the part throttle lean off pipe?

My furling is pretty much bang on with WOT. Cruise is 10:1 as yours is.

I'm in the process of adding a solenoid operated valve on the PTLO pipe that leave it open until it's on boost.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the the pod with one tnk of fuel this year :)

its a converted n/a carb so no lean off pipe as such but i like the idea of a solenoid valve though a bleed valve so i can dial in the lean off and have it switched like yours

driving to the pod is very brave *happy*
ive found mine will cruse well on 16-18afr at 40mph at least, that must be a good few mpg saved if you can achieve that with the leanoff pipe

Lol at the turbominis pikey van at the start :p I am planning on running a solenoid in the part throttle lean off, just to a switch, oli at the rr day said he was seeting 17:1+ on cruise

ill be at york but the misfire is not the main problem the boost creep is, it hovers around 8-10 psi then goes straight up to 20+ in less than half second, i have had my welder reg plumbed up the the actuator and the wastegate is fully open at 10psi, but on the road the turbo just keeps going
here is a good log of it *oh well*

What I find odd is that although you are getting an indicated boost spike, the acceleration, and therefore torque, appears constant. I would expect a big jump in acceleration if you suddenly added over 50 lbft.

So, is this a true boost reading? maybe you need to look at your plumbing :)

Im pretty sure that Phil and Robert are already doing something similar.

oneeye what needle are you using, or any idea of its curve?
what afr does it cruise at without the part throttle lean off conneted?
im currently running the modified avb high boost needle with 12lb spring and 20/50 in the dash pot its good on boost and fuels well for the boost spike
but i just cannot get rid of the lean out as the throttle is pressed the engine goes almost straight into boost
im thinking about having it stupid rich from station 3 -5 (light cruse) and then using a leanoff pipe to lean it off
my theory is this is the reason its there not 'just' to lean it off on cruise

Paul, interesting that you should say that as i have often wondered why the logs dont show it, im sure benny can testify ( and another vid) that it really does kick, i will be perfectly honest with you all it scares the shit out of me not for the acceleration but i dare not push the engine like that untill its proved to me it can take it
i dont know how far it will actually boost the over boost protection will keep it within the logging ability of ms but with the speed it builds boost im in no doubt this turbo will pull 30psi

Mines a modified standard needle. I could measure it if you like. 20/50 in the dashpot and standard spring.

Anything more than a tickle of throttle and mine stays at 10:1 idle is in the 12's once warm :/

Not ideal to say the least, but with my foot planted it is pretty stable at 12-12.5:1.

I've had the lean off pipe blocked for years now as it was causing the same transition into boost lean-out you are experiencing.

I'm going to try closing the valve at 100kpa and go from there.

if thats no problem mate,
if your valve is going to be controlled by megajolt id try closing it at 80-90 kpa that seems to be where my leanout starts from

i have a half decent video being uploaded right now, shows gauges i managed to stick a couple boost creeps in there too and interestingly it shows up a revcounter problem i have never noticed

right here is the video,
http://youtu.be/hl-I2qYmYvQ

i am going to pick out some screen shots of the log, with a video ref so you can see and hear whats going off
this way you can share the TM experience *happy*

if you watch the rev counter closely it randomly flickers down, now im unsure if this is because of the sync loss or the cause of it but on the 3rd and 4th sync loss in that log the rpms dont fall to zero but the gauge does watch the video from 4:50 on... 5:00 is the 3rd sync loss and 5:03 is the 4th
however at no point in this video did i feel a misfire (or hear it)
and also show quite well the boost creep

starts from about 0.02s

from about 4:04 just after that corner

Cheers. I'll start at 80kpa and go from there then.

I'll have a measure of the needle tonight if I get a chance.

i dont know how else to plumb it? the boost gauge comes off the carb, dumpvalve from the manifold, megasquirt from the manifold, actuator used to come from the turbo compressor housing but in this vid its T'ed into megasuirt line

it should be fine, but you can mix up a thin resin mix and pretty much paint it on.
