It's a lovely bit of kit. I've had to work bloody hard to earn the money for it, but it's worth it!

For those of you that need more of a clue...

Got a slight clearance issue with the air filter.

I was considering a longer manifold, but Ben (he made the manifold kit) has suggested that may cause me problems with fuel pooling in the manifolds and loose throttle response. I think I'll look into longer a trumpet.

It's a lovely bit of engineering. I don't think the injection will give me much, if any, more power, but I should be able to get the best out of the setup and hopefully improve the fuel economy compared to a carb.

Yummy

Can you not rotate the filter through 90?
Or will it foul the exhaust..

With a bit of tube and threaded bar for mocking up, the air filter fits.

Looks like I'm going to need a 200mm long trumpet. Not sure what that will do for torque and driveablity.

EDIT: The filter hits the master cylinders and down pipe if it's on the original flange position which ever way round you put it.

If you are having to move it that much, would it not be worth ducting it and putting it near the grill area?

I've considered trying to duct/direct some cold air up there. Will have to see what space there is once a few more things are fitted under the bonnet.

As said above, it would be easier to fit an 'induction kit' type set up as fitted to all other injection cars with the filter behind the grill, in direct cold air.

How is that easier? I've got to mess around routing the pipework round the engine, fresh air duct etc etc? seems much easier and neater to bolt a longer trumpet in to me.

Just my opinion, people see things in different ways. Good build thread tho.

looking good Andy - the kit looks pretty comprehensive.

As for a longer trmpet - will this have any effect on the performance - it has no doubt been covered before and I'm about to look stupid but I recall adding longer trumpets to carb set-ups increased torque? any ideas if it will alter the characteristics of your setup?

S.C. are looking at a longer trumpet for me. It should be possible as they tried various lengths on their demo engine.

As for the effects, JohnK thinks that the supercharger will overcome any negative effects of the longer trumpet. In my mind it will be forcibly sucking far more air in than an n/a engine would so it's not the end of the world. It's never going to be the ultimate powere A series, but it should be fairly quick and drive well.

I was wondering about benefits as opposed to losses to be honest.

Agreed, it should make a very nice drivable car

Have the injectors been specced to your engine? Or are they a one size fits all?
