I've moved the pump and re-ran the fuel hoses well away from the exhaust. Opinions please.

As you have asked, I still think that pump is closer to the exhaust than I would like.

The standard pump mounting for the turbo's is on the subframe, but I'm guessing the standard frame must be different to the turbo one as I can't find anywhere remotely more suitable for it.

The pump is 3"- 4" away from the exhaust and the closest hose has 2.5" of clearance.

I agree that it seems close, but petrol will not ignite on a hot exhaust. It will turn to a gas, but then need an ignition source. To get enough energy for petrol to ignite the exhaust pip would have to be about 600deg C.

In this photo, it looks like the pump would catch on something on the ground before the exhaust would? Wouldn't be a fan of my pump hitting something and the hose coming off.

The distance between them looks fine, some heat sheild between them for the fussy folk?

It does stick down a little, but the back box and sump are lower.

I'm a bit stuck for where else to put it, there just isn't any room under there for it.

John founda picture of a standard turbo pump and it's up inside the subframe. I'd have to take the subframe of and get a better clamp.

In theory, we could put the pump inside teh cabin under the bulkhead and just pass the hoses through the floor/bulkhead, but I'm not all that happy about having fuel in the cabin....

No Way! When you want to stand out then nothing does it better that driving the van!

I felt really anonymous driving my golf after spending a week in the van.

I have my fuel pump in the boot, beside the tank, mounted on the rear bulkhead with two rubber bobbins. It's protected from the elements (somewhat).

Any space in the metro boot?

Dez, i think it has to be gravity fed fromt he tank, i.e. lower, so inside the boot might be a no go...

Thanks for the advice. looks like I'll be crawling under it again tonight....

The pump can't be gravity fed as the sender is half way up the tank, I guess it would need some suction from the pump.

Had a good weekend working on the shed. As usual everything has taken forever.

Hopefully the fuel pump and plumbing is in it's final location.

Everything is nice and clear of the exhaust and the pump is up out of the way above the subframe. Was a pain to do, but you can't put a price on safety.

I bit the bullett and booked the MOT for this wednesday, so we though we'd better double check for rust. Not our best idea...

The floor is nearly welded up now. Looks like Tuesday is going to be a bit of a weldathon.

Just had a delivery, looks much better *smiley*
