Here's the progress with the plenum so far.

Finished machining trumpets tonight.

There should be just enough room to cram it in!

This is my oil filler, return and breather.

Haha, it sure is. I can cut another 15-20mm off the silicon hoses to gain a bit of extra room at the front.

Hopefully I can get it welded together tomorrow along with my downpipe. Then its back to CAD for the curvey part at the front!

That throttle body setup is mint. What throttle bodies are you using?

Loving the intake trumpets, ally?
Have you put a flat on the front face or are the pics decieving?

Gives you an idea of how big of a plenum chamber you can have. Small LOL

Yeah they're ally, makes a nice change from working with stainless. THe TB's are the BMWk1200 ones.

They have got a flat on the front but its more prominant because the flat part has oxidised slightly and the rest is freshly machined. *wink*

The plenum should be quite a good size, the space between the TB's and bonnet looks alot smaller than it actually is. (at least I hope so)! *surprised*

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Yeah there is a threaded insert pressed into the breather.

I would have thought that would weld as the tumpets don't have that much mass, how thick is the plate?

when i did mine that plate was 10mm but i welded a 16 gauge tube to it ok.

Are you doing the welding?

you should be able to focus the heat on the trumpet until it starts to melt and then "blob" it across to the thin part.

alternativly how about undercutting the trumpet so it looks a bit more like a rolled one so the part you weld to is thinner, that way you save some weight too!!

The plate is 14- 16 gauge, can't remember which now. I was told originally that it would be ok as the bloke doing the welding was going to focus the heat on the trumpets but he doesn't recon that'll be enough to stop it distorting.

Ive left the plate and trumpets with him, he said he's got some 4mm plate and he'll just spot through my plate and make another! *oh well*

Hopefully i'll have it back tomorrow then I can attempt to bend the curve in the front section!

Its been a while since i updated this but here's some more progress...

This is a mock up. I still need to make the flange to bolt the TB to but it should just about squeeze in.

Ive had to rotate the TB so the spindle is not horizontal so the linkage clears the head.

My thoughts exactly...not looking forward to it!

Ive got to cram a 2.5" pipe down the back, and it only just fits.
