Haha, it sure is. I can cut another 15-20mm off the silicon hoses to gain a bit of extra room at the front.

Yeah they're ally, makes a nice change from working with stainless. THe TB's are the BMWk1200 ones.

Are you doing the welding? you should be able to focus the heat on the trumpet until it starts to melt and then "blob" it across to the thin part. alternativly how about undercutting the trumpet so it looks a bit more like a rolled one so the part you weld to is thinner, that way you save some weight too!! The plate is 14- 16 gauge, can't remember which now. I was told originally that it would be ok as the bloke doing the welding was going to focus the heat on the trumpets but he doesn't recon that'll be enough to stop it distorting.
