The trigger wheel is from Morspeed (shudder) came with the engine I bought from Richie.

But as Andy says it's very similar to the Tom Fenton item.

Nice job lads it looks excellent. Just a few questions if i may? What is the intercooler off and how hot does the cooling run with the mpi rad?

My metro turbo over heats when sitting still but i think its because of the configuration of my rad and intercooler to blame as i cant get a cooling fan to cover the full depth of the rad.

Do it right the first time and make it mint!!!!!!

The intercooler is of an MR2.

TBH, we overheated it the other night, but it only had 1 litre of antifreeze in it. :$

We've only had little test runs in it so I guess time will tell how good it is...

There is a chap on ebay who offered to make a custom rad for it, might have his details somewhere

Yeh like you say time will tell. I might look into using 1 of them mr2 intercoolers then i can put both the rad and the intercooler at the front or the car instead of 1 behind the other. Plus it will flow the air better around the engin bay. Im using a micra diesel intercooler at the mo but i think that it will blow the plastic ends off when the boost is cranked rite up *happy*.

Check the measurements before buying. I was given a second MR2 i/c, but it was much wider than the original one. Let me know if you want the dimesions of ours.

So far that one has survived 10psi (in 1st gear on a very short bit of road *happy*)

Just about done! Just got to reseal the downpipe.

Had a bit of a mad moment doing a test flight when the MJ log recorded 20.5psi! Oops!

Not being funny but if I were you I'd stop ranting it up and down the fucking road at 20 pound of boost having not been set up before you hole a piston......

Point well taken Tom. As soon as we spotted it it was straight in the garage and sort the pre-load out on the actuator.

We have a very safe map on the MJ and have the AEM wideband on keeping an eye on the fuelling. Just slightly rich recording in the high 11's

We've been getting on with the last few jobs today.

Some of the fuel pipes are a little too close to the exhaust for my liking, so I made a heat shield.

Then I fitted the new screen wash jet, the bonnet and grille. Took of the remaining stickers and gave it a quick wash.

By then, John had just about got over his hang over and showed up. We temporarily fitted his AFR gauge and got the mixture set something like right.

Then, on a stretch of private road, this happened...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCLIlvYc6QI

According to the megajolt logs, 20.5psi at 6100 revs! oops. Next job was to take some of the preload of the actuator.

Last job was the most important.

Before:

After:

All that's left to do is put the exhaust clamp on with both halves the same way up :$ Then it can go for MOT.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

john ,andy, them fuel pipes are a disaster waiting to happen .......... event with that heat shield

you need to make sure they are no way near, i would re position the fuel pump a few inch away so the pipes are well clear .....the pic shows the heat shield touching the exhaust and the pipes touching the heatshield .
NOT GOOD!

The pictures are not great. There is a couple of mm clearance on either side of the heat shield, but point taken. I'll have a look for a better position for the pump.

As Steve says, those pipes need to move. I would expect any MOT man worth his salt to fail that, heatshield or no heatshield.

Yep as Steve says,

I've had metty tail pipes hot enough to burn me when touched.... with a farly standard N/A 1275.

I'd look at moving the pump to the spare wheel well

My personal preferance is fuel pipes outside of the cabin. There's a reasonable amount of space unter there so I'll have a think and find somewhere safer.

fair enough,

thinking about it again the wheel wells probably a bit high anyway.

Yep, there's a space under the cover but I don't think the pump would fit and it's above the tank.

Unlike a mini, there's no rear bulk head so there's nothing between us and the pump.

I reckon I should be able to shift it to the other side of the floor, well away from the zaust.

That said, iirc metro turbo's have them mounted on the rear subframe. That might be a better spot

Just re-reading the thread and spotted this! Little did we know we would actually do it! Even if it was by mistake.

Cheers for the advice guys. Saves us failing the MOT and possibly blowing ourselves up.

it could potentially be more than 20.5psi too, your right on the limit of the pressure sensor at that

but top work guys, what gear was the pull in the video taken in?

i also noticed even though its not been on the rollers the fueling is pretty good, it does lean out or rather becomes less rich as the boost rises but by alot less than i thought it would
