Also, what is the standard diameter ?

What is the new weight ?

Just dug a standard crank out. It weighs 11.9KG and the diameter is 136mm. The Force Racing crank weighs 10.9KG so that's a good weight saving. *smiley*

Made a bit more progress.

Decided I didn't want to weld up the battery box hole in the new boot floor, so I've made an alu plate to fill it.

Typical of this car, the seat back was a little bit rusty

mmmmm swaged

Then I stuck the new floor in and hacked of the rest of the rear panel

For once welding went well *smiley*

Then this happened:

So, bar a few little bits, the shell is finished *smiley*

Thanks, definitely pleased to see the back of the rot repairs! Still a long way to go yet though.

The rear panel fitted really well, but I only welded the boot floor up to the shocker turrets. Then finished welding it when I could fit the rear panel as a datum. The end of the rear quarters lined up as they should have which was reassuring.

Nice one!

It'll be in paint next weekend then! :)

The thing ive found about replacing whole panels is that there is virtually no filling to do on the whole car, which should make the prepping for paint stage a whole lot less painful...in theory! *hehe!*

Popped out yesterday and got my tyres fitted. I think a couple of the fitters where nursing semi's for them...

Got the last little bits of welding on the back end done and put the rear subframe back on (it actually fitted this time :$). Then put it back on it's wheels. Had to try the alloys, it would be rude not to! *happy*

I think it needs lowering a touch...

Tried the Group 2 arches again, definitely need the wide ones. Hopefully pick some up at Bingley.

Time to park this project for a while. It's time we cracked on making the van faster, lighter, lower and louder. *smiley*

I need to do something other than metalwork for a bit, or I'll loose my mojo.

The target is Avon 2012, so plenty of time yet.
