The engine has been stripped and ready to go to the engine shop.

The bearings look ok to my untrained eye except one, the mains bearing at the pulley side has a single deep score.
The oil pump is shot, so I presume with the primary gear failed as I had used the wrong one some swarf must have entered the oil pickup.

Anyway next stop the engine shop and they can check everything over.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Its nice to catch these things early. One reason i intend a regular engine refresh. Catch things before they develop.

I'll speak to you soon

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Echo Colin's thoughts. Catch early could be saving you a fortune in additional repairs.

Okay everything is with my favourite machine shop... Who are a little snowed under with work at the moment. Still they are worth waiting for.

They are going to check the block over and advise if anything needs doing, and the drill for 11 studs, pocket the block block up the waterways and re drill to match the 1275 head gasket.

I need to clean up the gearbox and order a shed load of new gaskets.

Tomorrow hopefully I will get the time to clean up my 295 head and relap the valves before putting up for sale, ready for a 940 from our very one turbo Phil.

Well, I have sold the old head, so no going back now.. just purchased a very expensive head gasket... as it will take a while to pop over the pond to the uk...

SC injection system to be pulled out and got ready for sale...

The ECU is the next thing to sort out, with the changes that I'm making to the:

New Inlet manifold
New injector locations
New throttle body
Adding an IACV

It therefore to me, it makes sense to sell the whole SC system as a kit to maximise my return and therefore switch ECU's, rather than be left with a few expensive bits that I cant sell.

I would also like a bit more detailed data logging and an interface where I can display key engine indicators on the dash would be nice, esp on a track day.

Vmems looks a good option in terms of cost, features, wide band control, etc.

can I ask how much a sc system is worth and is it just bolt on?

I have the kit in the link below (45mm), minus the trigger wheel and inlet manifold. (The inlet manifold is a standard mini carb inlent and the trigger wheel and sensor are available from a number of suppliers, like MED, SC, that use the same sensor that the loom has.

Its designed to be a bolt on five port kit and SC do supply a number of maps for different engine configs.

so currently £1198.80 inc VAT

Well a big fat gasket has turned up from the USA! And the engine shop should have finished by next weekend so I can start putting it all back together.

ok so I did some cleaning, checking some clearances and bolting some things together

Clearances looks good and the same as the previous build when I looked at my notes from 2012. I have put new bearings in the same make as 2012.

I found piston 2 - 3 - 4 has some marks on them when I cleaned them up. I hope these are ok.

ended up with this.....

So I now have some extra stud holes and pockets ready for the new head from turbo Phil.
I will get the rest of the bits bolted on during the week.

So the cam has been timed in and the timing figures haven't changed form the last build, those Calver St chains seem to be of very good quality.

The transfer case is back on and all bolted up.
Hopefully have the clutch and flywheel back on tomorrow night as there should be less traffic as there is no match on at old Trafford.

As soon as I can. I'm waiting on a couple of bits but the engine should be finished tonight and hopefully plonked in the hole in the front of the car this week... Well that's the plan

Oh cock! I asked the machinist to block up the water ways on 1 and 4 that over hang the large bore gasket, and after building the engine back up I have been too focused on clearances and the like and I have just noticed he's missed them! Now I'm not sure to tape everything up and tap and use grub screws then Hoover and wash the waterways out or stip everything and send it back and start again! Which might make me cry

You'll be fine with your plan for the waterways. No need to strip it.

I agree with Andy, mask it all up and tap and plug the required waterways.

I have masked everything tonight, hit the hover I now have two bungs installed.

I guess I will have to see if there is enough meat in the head so that I can do the same there.
