This has inspired me to get on and get mine road legal again. Just got an insurance quote for £430 which I don't think is too bad.

Cheers folks. Mole: my ins premium is only £200! Joys of a classic i guess, and it's not turbo'd.....

Brooklands went well. Dropped a waterpump seal on the way there, but £15 at Minispeed and 20 mins work had a new pump in there and sorted.

Took it up the test hill twice, but then got banned because apparently it's 'too lairy for the hill'

Problem I had, was with the SCCR box, 1st is so tall, and with the 296 scatter, it doesn't pull until after 3500rpm, so it bogged down at teh bottom, then came on cam half way up and went nuts. Not happy marshals was the result!

Still, great laugh.

Also, raced a mates B16B Vtec, and amazingly, from 30-85 mine was quicker every time! After 90 he pulled past easily, but in real world terms, I'm chuffed to bits.

his was a full weight road car with an interior, compared to mine which is fairly light, but I was still shocked by it.

Loving being back in it again!

Both look good, guessing the audi is the 1.8T? Some great power to be had from them, mate of mine has a golf 1.8T running forged internals and nitrous, 400bhp at wheels :o

I saw you Prawn, watched you go up the hill aswell, sounded like a beast.
Did want to stop and chat but couldn't find you when I was around. Was standing next to the cars as they lined up to go up the hill though.

There is a vid of it going up the Hill yea. it looks awful though to me! it bogged down so badly at the start.

I was told when lining up for my first run, that I wasn't allowed to spin the wheels at all at the bottom!

Sounds like madness to me, but they seemed pretty up tight, and before I'd even done the one run they said I'd be banned if I burnt rubber at the start.

So, trying to pull off in something so cammy without any wheelspin didn't go well. hence the horrific start.

Work won't let me on youtube to find the link, so I'll post it tonight when i get home.

Cheers for the picture link Longy, Love that shot!

Benny: the A3 is a 1.8T yea, still just a ko3S at the moment, stretched to 240bhp/270lbft at 23psi. it's just killed it's clutch after the LSD increased grip so much it's overloaded the clutch :(

Shame I didn't get to catch up with you Dave! it's always nice to put faces to names.
Going to try and get along to more shows this year generally, I'll be missing Riv Run as I'm at the Ring that weekend, but should be at most others for a change.

The next one I'll be at is Lincoln, first show for the new addition to my mini family aswell. I usually try to get to the major ones throughout the year.

If someone told me that I would do the biggest burnout I could muster, so what if you get banned it would be pretty funny. well, you did I suppose!

Does sound good, think my mate is running a ihi vf 22 with a p20 housing? It was previously 400bhp @ fly and then he put a rod straight through the front of his block, rebuilt the engine and is now looking at 400 @ wheels. Just finished running it in, never seen it go propely yet.

why are they so worried about wheelspinning and going up the hill to fast?
is that not the idea of it all?

Bit of a thread revival, and I've just got the inspiration to carry on with my mini after some time away from it, what colour red is the car?
Looking at a colour for mine and can't get much info on colours I like! :(

Bloody hell, that's quite a bump!

Colour is flame red, paint code COF :)

Whilst I'm here I may as well update with the status of the poor thing: it was retired for winter in December 2011 after doing a road rally with our local club, the. Due to other commitments it didn't get re-MOTd in January, and I was then sent away with work, where I've been for the past year. Moving home next week, and determined to get this sorted and back on the road :)

Thanks buddy :) The original colour for my car was 89 flame red, but after all the terrible resprays it was nowhere near the red it should be when I bought the car originally, so I dont have much clue as to what it looks like!
Good luck with getting it sorted!

2 days in a row I've logged in here now, I can feel the bug coming back!

Unfortunately, my new toy has ruined me in many ways, and I'm now used to masses of grip and enormous brakes, so I'm considering selling off my 10'' setup and looking for some metro 4 pots again and 12's or 13's.

Time to get browsing the classifieds I think!

Same here, due to my last job I'd completely lost interest in working on my own mini, and often thought about selling up. But that would be giving up too easily and I'd never forgive myself! So this year is the year I crack on with my build again, the sunshine is motivation *happy*

Cause he wants more grip from a bigger tyre footprint!

Everyone heckle him into getting motivation to fix his mini!
