Hi Chaps,

I hope your all keeping well, and staying safe 👌

Ok it’s been a wile so here’s a bit of an update, for those not on Instagram..

Early in the year I made the decision to pull the mk1 to bits and give it a full rebuild and take this year out with what’s been going on in the world.

Sooooo The mk1 has been stripped down to a bare shell and a lot of work has going into the shell, chopping, drilling, reworking body work to give some space around the back of the engine for a better manifold/ turbo setup. I have removed 2.7kg off the shell that I could put in a box and get on the scales.

Most parts have been weighed and will be reworked to lose some more grams off them. I don’t have an end goal on what I want the weight to be but south of 499kg I would be happy with 😂 But at the minute I am just preparing for the extra weight I will be adding to gain more control over the car in the future. (More on that later)

Engine wise, not much could be saved from the old engine as it was old and very wore out. I have been working away prepping a new block, drilling for 4 bolt main, 11 stud and dropping some weight out of it. It’s with KAD for line boring atm. I have all the new bits needed on the shelf or on order the new turbo Should be with me this week, just waiting on the cam and I have been in chats with a place to get a one off flywheel And maybe clutch pack man enough for the task I am still waiting out on this.

Thanks simon 👌

On the engine side of life,

Me and Alex has been chipping away around the COVID and when I can call over and see him.

Also Hel sorted me out with some light weight brake hoses, more to come from them 👌

On the shell front, I have been carrying on with adding lightness 👌 as and where I can. Last count was over 500 new holes in it 😂

Think that’s me up to date now lol, i just want to get on with building it now as it seems like I have new parts coming in most weeks.

Thanks simon

That wiring loom is perfection, it makes me want to bin my frankenstein standard one and start from scratch! Congrats on the Hel partnership too
