All is clear, looks like I forgot to install the bearing outer retaining c-clip. Hence its moved inwards and lost support for the input gear.

Bumhats but at least you have identified what has caused the problem.

I know on the turbo size bearing if that is what you are using the correct clip is hard to come by. I have had to modify a standard circlip before now. The standard circlip won't fit as the "ears" for the holes protrude over the ID of the outer race.

good to see a reason for the carnage,

as a minimum I'd advise pulling the 1st motion shaft and replacing the little bearing between 1st and 3rd motion.

but if you are going SC ignore me!

I've bought a Clubman Gearset, so plan is to upgrade the gears and change the final drive back to 3.1.

I should have listened to you in the first place Joe😉 Also You were right, it does need 15psi. I've been looking for a set of 18cc Pistons for a while.

Damn...!

Must admit you had me rethinking by supercharger-gearbox combo..

Good to see you found the root-cause but a shame this happened (at only 1500miles)

Dazed and Confused....

One thing is for sure. You will never forget to fit that retainer again. Neither will a lot of TM members.

Not sure if the cast 11cc could take much more?
Other options are to use a Cometic gasket or head out to 26cc.

lol I'd recommend straight cut gears on any mini over 100bhp, i've had two gearset now when the bearings have failed, luckily gears were ok, but I caught them just in time (and by chance as I had split the engine to do other jobs)

From what I have seen those 11cc cast omegas aren't particularly thick crowned.

I'd say cometic gasket and maybe buff a couple of CC into the head.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I guessed so, MED refused to take anymore more out if the dish.

I need to find someone who will open up the chambers for me. Everybody is too worried about slipping and damaging the head. Specialist components can only offer another 1.5cc at 23.5cc. Turbophil as managed 26cc from his, but doesn't want to risk another.

have you thought about alcohol based fuel and leaving CR as is with more boost?
over here E85 is the preferred fuel for anything boosted and it gives 110-115 octane for about the same price as 98 unleaded you burn more volume as the BTU is lower but its cheaper so is near enough the same as putting 98 or 100 unleaded in there but much better due to charge cooling and ability to take abuse

E85 doesn't seem as popular in the UK. It's could be a option though. I'll look into it.

Same in france but the biggest issue in E85 is alloy in the fuel system ... :(

ive herd alloy might ok if its anadised or has a bit of that good old vanish built up also so long as the moisture content is down you shouldent get the electric currents or whatever that cause havic

not sure all i can say is ill be running it as i want to have high comp and high boost probs be dynamic CR of 11:1 and up to 20 PSI
some people say im a brave man some people say that should be fine time will tell !!!!
this said i dont plan to see IAT over 30-35c due to my charge cooler
high comp makes better low end and fuel economy also its needed to take full advantage of alco fuels

cold starts might be a small prob in the snow? aparntly if tuned right not so much a deal beaker
anyhow this is off topic

how is this comeing along? ive pulled my box down yet again as im not happy with the feel the 2nd 3rd bearing give
they are ok if turned a small bit but if more than 1/4 turn they walk sideways depending in rotation and bind up to me this means the cage is shit and not holding the rollers parallel dono im going to the bearing shop with the related parts in the next day or so to see what thay think
