Okay, so today, we got a little bit further. Went to set the fuel pressure up, got the car started and then my dad turned the screw on the regulator and nothing happened on the guage? Da Fuq? Sooo we finally worked out the fuel pump wasnt running. WTF? Oh wait hang on, didnt I wire that to earth when the engine reaches 500rpm on the megajolt? I havent mapped the megajolt yet have I? HAHAHAHA took us about 30 mins to figure this out so we wired the pump up to a permanent live and dad set the fuel pressure to about 3.8psi. We then worked out that I had a bad earth on the pump and thats why it wasnt running when cranking! All sorted!

So we had it running for a bit and when I take the key out to turn it off the car carries on running!? Is this part of the EDIS fail safe? I dont understand why because the coil gets its power from the megajolt which this and the EDIS get power from the aux fusebox I wired in to only run on an ign live. I can physically see they all turn off when i take the key out so WHY does it still run after the key is taken out????

Anyway after we finished setting up the pressure we noticed that there was ANOTHER water leak, wtf? followed it up and guess what, the core plug behind the altenator was leaking haha, so rang up autorite and am picking up replacements tomorrow.

Figured I may as well get the old one out while it was still daylight:

Drilled a hole in it as I saw turbo phil commented on TMF telling someone thats how he does it then prises it out. I tried this and as it was painted it just bent sooooo hammer and screwdriver to the top piece and it rotated 90 degree then I pulled it out with some pliers *happy*

Knackered old core plug:

Stopped for tea then it was time to convert the car from a container back into a car worthy of an MOT!

Interior in:

Moved ALL of the wires so they arnt visible:

And heres the front of the car, waiting on my girlfriend to bring me the megajolt cable tomorrow night so I can get the black back panel back in:

Have any of you removed the sound deadening foamy stuffy out? I was going to make it fit back in the car, but then thought well its a bit heavy and I couldnt be arsed to make it fit tbh. Does it actually make much difference?

Cheers

Thanks guys :)

My next few troubles to sort through are:

Find out why my aux fusebox stays on when the car is on

Find out why my map doesnt earth the fuel pump like I hoped it would

Check ignition timing and correct in MJ software (what do I modify for this in the software :S)

Okay so heres whats been going on recently:

Got the cam bedded in and then did my first oil change on it *happy*:

Got the car booked into slark for this comming friday (21st) then I relised I better get the intercooler on the car before takig it down there or itll need setting up all over again when I add that soo been busting my bollocks to get it done.

Cut the plenum pipe, marked it out and got it ready for welding:

Intercooler turned up Yesturday, time to get it in today:

This is where its going:

First thing to do was to block up the hole for the air feed to the cabin and remove the horn:

Rob sent me some of the brackets he made up for the intercooler, the slam panel mount fits on lovley:

Bottom bracket bolts needed shortening:

And the bracket needed extending by 80mm:

Re-mounted the horn:

And roughly how hte intercooler is fitted:

Re-adjusted the bottom bracket so that it doesnt sit on the piss, just paint is drying.

So stuff I did I havent got pictures of yet:

Got pipe back from welders (40 FUCKING QUID!!!! Well pissed off about that)
Painted pipe
painted the patch over the hole
painted the modified bottom bracket
threw a paddy because the bonnett doesnt shut properly?

So tomorrow its a case of get the intercooler in properly and get the boost piping on and then hopefully itll still start

I mounted the cooler further over so it could miss the bonnet frame and allow the pipes to run past the servo/ master cylinder. Might be worth checking if that is what is stopping it close properly as the upright bracket looks pretty close to where the internal bracing will be.

as for the mount bolts, I used nuts to lock nuts to secure it to the bracket. You could cut them down as well.

Okay so yesturday and today I needed to get the intercooler on and the car ready for slark by tomorrow.

So as you guys know we had the TT intercooler all bolted in however because of where it sat it made it very hard to get boost piping in. We decided to go round the scrappy an hour before it closed to see what we could get and we found an Astra 1.7 TD.

The intercooler/oil cooler and boost piping looked like it would be okay and a much better fit SOOOO we went back this morning and bought the lot.

Went to mock up the boost piping and it all just seemed to fit in the engine bay, I mean we literally cut 2 pipes and all we did was shorten them. It was literally like it was made to go in the mini engine bay. Had to rotate the oil take off by 90 degree as well so it would all fit:

Heres plenum pipe after was welded and painted:

Intercooler and boost piping all fitted:

As you can see it almost wholly fits behind the grill, you can see the oil take off as well:

I had some of the water pipe left so I used it to join the dump valve as it looks SO MUCH better than just the blue pipe that was on there before:

Put the car on the trailer I hired ready for tomorrow morning!

Its finally finished (apart from oil cooler but thats being installed in January

Cheers!

That's really looking good mate. :)

Who cares about £40 - You'll have forgotten about it in a few weeks anyway, and it's more than worth it as it helps get the car finished properly.
