not really an update but a tease to say that my head and pistons have now been sold :p as such there wont be much happening here for a while as with supermotolees note taking and simons book of drawings have turned me into a bit of a book doodler myself. As such has my ideas are probably going beyond my means but i'm going to give them ago.

i have just purchased a welder subsequently so super excited to getting that and starting to play :)

So after a few weeks of being skint and exams the cover has come back off.

basically today i just took out the master cylinders and the front subframe. popped to minispares and purchased myself a bulkhead box as now i have a welder i may as well use it. minispares were really cool to i put in a back order off some bits and they agreed to honour the discounted price in the sale :) so when they come in they will be sent to so some money saved there.

The engine bay is pure filth so i'm gonna take it back to metal and give it a respray.

Other than that not a lot. Got some forged con rods and on the look out for pistons and i need to arrange with madmk1 to get my block and new head dry decked.

new head ports (im waiting for a response from turbo phil if he is alive with hopefully just doing some small jobs on it)

Its not really that hard tbh, just the std dimensions and as long as you be sure to look at the original and just copy it you cant go wrong.

So i have been frigging lazy of late.

Since the last update let me see.... i've cleaned the mini engine bay a lil and butchered the bulk head box in place. I'm going to take the pedal box out so i can properly clean it up with a wire wheel. Still requires painting but i have checked and its not rusty at all under the cover which is good.

cleaner_bulk_weld by lilpinkiy, on Flickr

Also i have got the paint colour matched after the confusion of what colour it was i just got fed up of talking greys!! they did a good job with the paint i gave them.

I've also with the help from lee taken my old subby apart and cleaned the arms at his workshop and painted them. This weekend got some rose jointed lower arms; that means that when i pull my finger outta my arse i'll put it back together.

We also a few weekends ago when we painted the arms put my old gearbox on the 998 so when my subby and brakes are done i can throw the 998 in and be insanely frustrated with it, but hoping to have a cool sounding n/a engine :)

The head is also due to go to TurboPhil for some work, should be this week again its dependant on me, so might get that packed up tomorrow eve.

Anyway this is also on lees thread but its relevant to mine so updating too :)

We are both dry decking and fancied challenging ourselves a bit (well me this is easy for lee). Even though i'm not trusted with a brutal machine i got to drill the centres and set the measurements and helped with rambling throughout the day :p I'll let the piccys do the talking.

I've just spent the last two nights reading through your build thread in my spare time and it's an Absolutely Awesome build you have there Taz, I love the look and colour of your car.

Quick question about your plenum design and drydeck adaptors, is the plenum design a print to scale or have you got the dimensions for it?, as we don't really have many metro plenums over here in S.A. to compare it too also would you be willing to share the dimensions of your drydecking adaptors as well?

Many thanks and keep up the great work you're doing on your pride and joy.

Life is always a matter of opinion and quite frankly, no ones opinion really matters.

Glad you enjoyed the read and sorry it took up so much of your time! thankfully not as long as madmk1's :)

Regarding the plendalanium dimensions i dont really want to give out my ones purely cause i haven't made it yet and it could be all very wrong. What i can do however for you is measure the std one if you don't have one available and that may help you with what i've done. As what i have done isn't rocket science really and then you can do with that what you will; gimme a PM and i will sort that out and help you with the plug design.

Just a quick update.

Flap wheel'd the welds down a bit, found some holes... wire bushed the paint and surface rust around where i wanted to spray; found some more holes.

Welded them up but didnt have a welding mask so was "eyes shut" welding which was interesting to say the least. Needless to say mask now ordered :p Bit annoyed as means i couldnt do it as tidy as i know i can even if thats still not the best. However with my rents out and lee away i just made do.

primed

bulkhead_paint by lilpinkiy, on Flickr

i also painted the sides to and tbh i'm bloody impressed with the paint quality and when it dried it seemed to lighten up to more my cars colour.

Also test fitted the dry deck stuff just for when i get the head back.

The head is now all boxed up; gotta write a cheque and get it sent. That should happened then when i get that back i can finish that :)

Also spent the day tidying the garage and rearranging so that it is workable!

Thats all for now
