Its like the tardis.
I know you aint got everything in yet but even so, that looks as if youve got a lot of engine bay space left.

Have you figured out where youre mounting the rad? Behind the cooler?

Keep going mat it'll all work out in the end. I actually went into work and had a bit more of a play with mine. Got the pistons back on rods, and lightened and balanced it all. Almost got dry build sorted and need some more built so i can machine the final parts up.

I had the same problem Matty with the IC and rad. They way out I looked at was to buy a 18mm rad and 28mm IC core from Pace, have them bent to fit the profile of the front panel and make custom header tanks and fit them back to back. It still would be tight, but itll get them in there. Not the cheapest option by far, but at least you can have a full size rad and intercooler. The custom header tanks are the key *wink*

Hmmm been having a discussion with another member of the "Chinnor TM massive" and the conclusion could be this...

With some holes cut out of the front valance to let the air escape can't see a problem with this. I'd probably paint the plate on for stealthness and have another on the bonnet to keep Mr plod happy, what you recon?

At least this way I could keep my existing rad setup (and have the fan fitted aswell) and have a front mount IC. And it wouldn't take fook all time to do! :)

Hi,
I'm working on that IC location and it's nowhere near as easy as you think! *surprised*
Has that been done or is it a photoshop job?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Bat, Im not sure if feeble actually fitted the IC then photoshopped the letters on after or photoshopped the whole thing? *oh well* It looks like the cooler is in place and letters put on after?

It may look fairly stealth just let black then have a plate on the bonnet. I'll give it a try tomorrow, ideally I wouldn't want 2 number plates! :)

are you set against a side mount?

Random thought of the day: Would it be at all possible to use an intercooler as a plenum?

Not totally, its just nice having access to left side of the engine without a rad in the way.

The thought of using a plenum/intercooler combo had crossed my mind, but can't think of any way that it could be made to work? A water cooled plenum could work though!

Hi,
Short of a big scoobie style bonnet vent you wouldn't get a IC on the plenum to work.
EDIT I'm thinking 5 port there! :$
I've took some pics of my cossie under bumper IC and will post them up in show us yours.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

i thought about a combined intercooler and plenum type thing for the 7 port.

some of the mid engined reno 5's had a set up like this, there is a pic in Graham Bells tuning forced induction engines.

IIRC there is 1 inlet into the intercooler which has the TB on it and then a largish end tank with 4 outlets rubber coupled to the head.

I couldn't go this route due to the spacing on the 7 port causing issues with the alternator and starter.

matt, what about using a charge cooler? that could buy you a fair bit of space as i don't think the core needs to be front mount... just a thought...

I think a charge cooler could be a good option. *oh well*

Have no idea about which ones are good or not, definitely something to look into though.

Matt - if you are going to go chargecooler I can recomend PWR products - they do really neat small cylindrical units with very high flow cores - used on Lotus GT3 cars to good effect.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!
