I can't tell Vegard... Get the guy to look on th engine block. it'll either say 950 or 1800.

I recall the B-series had 5 studs on the front, and the A-series had 4 aswell ???

A two stroke diesel will indeed run without a blower, but the amount of residula gasses from the previous cycle will make the engine perform badly. The blower got its name from being used as a scavenge device on diesel two strokes, it dosent produce any boost as such, just flow air though the cylinder ready for the next cycle.

Che engine with three cylinders and six pistons is a commer ts3 i think, no head just bores, six pistons and con rods, one crank and six rocker arms.

Hows about this one, its a deltic diesel, three cranks, something like 36 pistons! -

No plate on the block, but the V5 says engine number:

9T/1337/D-742

Does that make sense?

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Perhaps V is thinking about buying the BMC tractor, ripping out the 950 diesel, installing a 88 litre Deltic, to go tractor pulling *happy*

Talking odd diesels, bloke at work was on about a three cylinder 2 stroke, with 2 pistons a bore travelling opposite directions

The Chieftan Main Battle Tank from the Cold War era had a twin crank opposing piston, turbocharged set up. It was designed/built that way to be a 'high-performance' diesel. Unfortunately it was built by BL, so hardly ever worked.

Don't tell the Russians! *surprised*

Oh, and I'm sure there's an animation of the deltic somewhere on pistonheads, if someone can be bothered to search.
Found it:

And the A-series diesel was rated at something like 34bhp, and fitted to 'mini' tractors (as in small tractors) I seem to remember and wasn't turbocharged.

port count looks like 5 to me.

What is "lacking" is an IC.

Anyway, a 1300 diesel with indirect injection and a turbo is good for what, 80 bananas maybe ???

There are far better ways to get to the shops in the snow than in a 15hp 10mph tractor, and more fun. Snow Trac ST4 for a start *happy*
