It is still in the plastic wrapper in a cupboard under my bench, waiting for me to get another so I have both to take in to work to have spark tested. I have also now got a contact in the labs who will Brinell hardness test samples also. Although the ebay idea may be a way of getting rid of the cranks once I have cut them up for testing!

why don't you all forget all this different material nonsence, just use any 1275 crank with the rolled fillets, give it a good clean up ,gring it then harden it, it will work faultless if its done right . trust me it will handle as much as you can throw at it,

and how much would all that cost lmao ! i think Tom is simply trying to put to bed the myth of the cam6581 and the cam6 232 to find out if it is actually hardened etc. valuable info imho especially if you want the better of the two as a starting base to get worked / machined... personally if i was going to spend bucks on a crank i would save up and go billet (which i have done in the past, then get it machined etc stroked etc etc etc
