🤔 I reckon I have got the bottle to brave composite sills - once I finish this supercharger project off I'll put it on my next thing to do list on the car ... it's strong than a flimsy steel sill , the only thing that pickles me and I can't adjust to is not welding ! but the structural m3 is used for lorry chassis during manufacturing - 'what times we live in people' 😂 You can do anything you want....but it will not be legal for the road given the sill is a major structural member. And big manufacturers can do lots of things...but they will also fully test their performance and prove if they are safe or not. Now if the shell is fully caged, some loss of structure in the sills wouldnt be a concern...although it still wouldnt be legal. 9.85 @ 145mph

Yeah I think this is what I had in my mind ' I can do anything I want it's my car' and that's one of the lovely things about owning a mini . What it get through an mot ? Possibly ... but unlikely - they did have a recent directive where they have to accept panel adhesive and are no longer able to fail on this area - obviously my suggestion is some what out and out of this . On reflection I would do it if it was a track car for laps etc I probably would do it for a road car as I have no regard for my own safety - but unfortunately I share the road with other users who wish to live and get home to their families . Secondly please accept my apologies if I came across a little strong and out of edequate for the forum . It's lovely site and is so well known for its expertise. kind regards steve'o ps my super charger mould is still being done - OCD combined with bipolar disorder not a good combo when applying yourself to a project 😭 |

Probably in a very clean or sterile environment, perhaps baked in an autoclave, but either way under very controlled conditions, and all thoroughly tested and proven to do the job. But to randomly replace a structural member with an unproven, untested fix with any non steel material like you are suggesting. I cant imagine any person involved with inspecting a car for road legality or safety would ever permit such a thing. 9.85 @ 145mph
