Yes it does look a bit Maplin-parts-box, but if it does what he says then it seems a decent bit of kit.

The problem is how you control the solenoid's duty cycle... With IACs and most ECUs, you can either use a fixed duty cycle (open loop) that gets the RPM close enough, most of the time, or tell the ECU exactly what idle RPM you want and let it vary the solenoid duty cycle (closed loop) to get more precise control, all of the time. Looks a decent bit of kit. If it does what it says it's far better value than the AEM liar-boost.

That looks like it could be arduino based, and a quick google has thrown up plenty of hits for arduino boost controllers. If you like playing with electronics, a home brew boost controller is easily possible. Mind you, at £99 for a boost controller it might not be worth the bother other than for something to mess around with on cold dark nights. Edited by metroturbo on 21st Feb, 2016. |
